A/N: I don't own Valkyrie or Tipstaff. This story takes place right after The Tipstaff and the Valkyrie and takes place after the novels so Val is in her 20s. Spoilers, I guess. Thanks go out to Rowan Masechius for the story request.
Tipstaff had chosen me an unusual traveling outfit, my normal clothes, something that amused me to no end, but in a good way. "You are my bride. I am concerned about your happiness." He managed when I commented on it, then took me into his arms to look fondly at me. Tipstaff leaned in and kissed me chastely, then escorted me to the car. I noted he too was back to normal and dressed in one of his best suits.
"Where are we going?" I asked once we were underway and I was snuggled up against him.
"You'll see, kitling." I smiled at the pet name and closed my eyes. Our marriage was off to a good start. Tipstaff was sweetly affectionate towards me, giving as much attention if not more than during our courtship.
"Tipstaff?" I asked sleepily.
"Yes, my sweet?"
"We don't have to be apart ever again, do we?"
"Indeed. And I intend to keep it that way, kitling. Sleep a while. I'll wake thee soon enough." I murmured sleepily that I wasn't all that tired but the warmth of him and the smell of his cologne made me feel safe and soon lulled me to sleep.
I awoke some time later to the feeling of Tipstaff's tapered fingers running through my hair. I obliged him with a sleepy kiss and he didn't hesitate to return it. He broke off the kiss with a happy sigh. "Would my most worthy lady knight care to see our destination?" He asked and I smiled then turned to look out the windscreen and managed a small sound of surprise.
"Oh, Tipstaff..." I trailed off. I'd expected a small cottage on the shore or a cozy cabin on a lake. We were parked in front of what looked like a deserted house. The dilapidated two storey structure had no curtains in the dusty windows and seemed completely empty from where I sat. The wood siding was weathered silver and the front porch was covered by a small patio roof that was caving in. The place looked haunted. Then it clicked and I smiled hugely. "A case? You brought me on a case for our honeymoon?" I asked excitedly.
"Verily. I though you might enjoy the change of pace, Valkyrie."
"Are we going in? Are we hunting ghosts?"
Tipstaff laughed, his blue eyes dancing with amusement. "You'll see." We got out, Tipstaff insisting I let him come around for my door at least that once and I let him. Then we were in front of the aging house and I could see the excitement being on the hunt once more brought him. I knew then I'd married the right man and found the right partner at last.
There was a sharp screaming sound from inside that cut off abruptly and Tipstaff turned to grin at me. "Shall we ride to the rescue, my most worthy lady knight?"
"That we shall." I agreed then Tipstaff was kicking the door open and summoning light into his hands and I drew my shadows to me and we went inside.
Whee! Tippy finds the best places to honeymoon, doesn't he? That will likely be it unless you want more. So let me know.
