Annabeth's tear-filled eyes said it all.
Percy could see that Anabeth truly wanted to love him, but something in her wouldn't let her. He wanted to pull her into his arms, to make everything better, but he couldn't. It would only make things worse.
"Please, Percy," she started
"Shh," he tried to soothe her, "I understand"
Those words were all she needed to hear. Annabeth gave an appreciative nod, and sped to her cabin. Percy stood there, out in the open, the twilight sun at his back, and walked into his cabin, as a few stray tears stained the ground.
"How could this happen?" Athena's terror-filled voice called out.
"We do not know," was Zues' simple reply, "but the threat grows with every passing day. We must not hesitate."
Artemis furrowed her brow, considering their predicamment. Near her, Aphrodite flinched, as though she had a chill. "I should be able to handle this threat, send my hunters and I."
Zues looked around the chamber, "Are there any objections to this course of action?"
Athena spoke up, "Yes. I will go with. This entire situation is my fault, I need to be a part of the solution."
Zeus looked out over the council, "Very well, all in favor?"
A chorus of 'ayes' filled the room.
"Very well, but in order for Athena to go there needs to be an official quest. I believe I know just the demigods."
Percy looked anxiously over at Annabeth. They had both been summoned to the Big House, but neither knew why. They hadn't spoked since the night before, but Percy got the feeling that they didn't need to be having this conversation in front of Chiron.
"As soon as the final demigod arives, we can begin."
As though on cue a disgruntled and tired-looking Nico Di'Anglo appeared from the shadows.
"good. Well then, " chiron started, "You are to go on a quest. A certian monster has grown more powerful than she ever should, or has before, and the gods are concerned. Not only are they sending you, but they are sending Athena, Artemis, and the Huntresses."
Annabeth perked up a little, "we're questing with Thaila?"
"yes, she and the rest of the Hunt will accompany you. Be careful, this is a dangerous mission. The gods didn't tell me much, but I trust you will be infromed when the others arrive."
Well, it's only about 400 words, but I couldn't stop after this point. Think of this like a teaser for my return to FFN. I'm going to warn you, I have finals this week. I will probs not be updating in this time. Just wanted to let the community know I'm not dead ;).
Also, I want people to guess the romances in this, I'm curious what people think I'm gonna do (unlike my previous stories, I DO have plans for this one :P).
Adittionally, I want to know what people think the BBEG (big bad evil guy) is gonna be.
Finally, I want to thank all the people who have kept reading my stuff literally 3 years after it was finished.
I will try to update my old stories if I can, but that requires a lot of intropetion on my pat, and anything I DO write wont seem the same, I've changed a bit in the past three years.
Thanks again,
Alex
