A piercing yowl echoed throughout twolegplace.

It was close by, too close for comfort. A white kitten padded through an alley, sticking close to the walls. I am her. There are some things I have known for as long as I could remember. My name is Flame. The clan cats. I live in a hellhole called Bloodclan.

Living is Twolegplace, a run-in with another cat was common. Most were kittypets, which is good. The reputation of Bloodclan has scared them, and they often ran away.

But anyway-I was following a scent. It was discarded food. I followed it until I reached it. It was a discarded twoleg food item, damned if I knew the name. Instinct told me to look around before eating:

All was safe.

I ate. I ate like it was I was the last food I would ever eat, which might as well be true, meals were rare.

"Scram kit!"

I considered doing as he said.

Screw it was the conclusion I came to. I was ravenous; I was damned if I let him have my food. I continued to eat, keeping an eye on the stray.

The stray was a gray tom cat with a white muzzle. If I had paid attention, I could've noticed his flexing claws. And he attacked.

I was unprepared for the pounce and I ended up pinned. His teeth wrapped themselves around my neck. His teeth broke the skin, I could tell. He threw me against the wall.

"In this world, it's kill or be killed, don't you know?"

And I slipped from the world.

Upon opening my eyes, I wasn't sure what was happening.

It was black, with pinpricks of light.

Doubt and disbelief flickered through my mind as I considered the possibility that I was dead.

I continued to stare at the sky and nearly jumped when blood stains blemished the sky as if something above the inky blackness was bleeding, staining the ebony void.

After a few drops, the sky was covered with blood. The stars seemed to gain color, becoming rust colored and ice colored, and grew, eating the blood and leaving the sky black again.

I was genuinely confused. I kept on trying to make sense of what happened.

"An old enemy will return. Fire and ice. Stars powers they shall gain." A voice echoed.
