Sara's Secret

Image found at http://pics. first met Gil Grissom as an undergrad at Harvard.

After my abduction, our relationship became public knowledge. Our co-workers, my fellow CSIs, badgered Grissom in their own way about it because I wasn't available. And I think they would have felt guilty asking me, adding additional stress to my hospital say and recuperation. Plus, Griss, he was the one who outed us so he should be the one, according to their logic, to answer the questions they had about our relationship.

Greg asked Grissom when Gil and I had first met. I think Greg, the guy who had made no secret about having a crush on me, was a bit perplexed that Grissom would be as slow as he seemed to in becoming involved with me. Greg thinks I'm a catch. (Nick thinks I'm an annoying, younger kid sister. Grissom being interested in me bothers him a lot so we don't discuss it and he gave Grissom a wide berth after Grissom outed us.) Grissom told Greg that he had met me while I was an undergrad at Harvard, that he had admired my beauty, my intelligence and my questions at an undergrad seminar he gave.

I remember that seminar and the meet and greet after his presentation. I had only attended because my room mate had been required to attend as the club she belonged to had helped bring him to the campus. She didn't want to go by herself. I went along because I had nothing better to do that night and was still depressed over a guy. My recollection of Grissom from that night was that he was bashful, insecure and egotistical all at once. At nineteen, that first time I met him, I didn't find him all that impressive.

Still, Grissom had given Greg (and everyone Greg had talked to. No hiding it, no denying it: Greg's a gossip and everyone soon knew.) the idea that it was mutual infatuation at first sight. Catherine, Warrick and even Hodges eventually mentioned this to me, how sweet it was, half wondering how I'd managed to hang on to those feelings since my time as a Harvard undergrad, to out wait Grissom.

I haven't had the heart to tell them that I didn't develop feelings for Grissom until I met him again at Berkley. I don't want to hurt Grissom's feelings, especially now that he's opened up so much on an emotional level after my abduction. I have no intention of telling Grissom, nor my co-workers the truth any time soon. It's my little secret.
