Again, she drifted through the void between worlds. Again, her life had been cut tragically short. Again, Hanyuu, her sole companion through the countless worlds, was by her side.
Rika was angry, but there was nothing she could do. That last world had held so much promise. But like so many worlds before that promise was only an illusion; one that was shattered on the night of the Cotton Drifting Festival. From there, the last world had descended into a living nightmare yet again. Rika couldn't remember who it had been this time. She had lost track of the number of times her friends had gone insane. However, Rika suspected that this time, another faction was to blame.
Regardless, she couldn't do anything about previous worlds. She could only look for a new world.
"Don't lose hope, Rika," Hanyuu said.
But Rika already held little hope. She had been to so many worlds, and every one of them had gone awry.
But, she thought. Maybe next time will be different. Maybe next time I can live in the world I come to.
With these thoughts and hopes she drifted on, searching for a new world.
