Am I really gonna spend New Years without you?

Am I just going to let this

happen?

Because everyone knows

you're the firework

I'd like to see tonight.

I stayed up until midnight,

but it wasn't fun and

the danger didn't excite.

I think I was missing my life,

the life of the party.

I wish I could've talked

with you, on the telephone

about something or other.

Not heard my parents tell me to refrain

from taking more than two sips of champagne at a time.

I'm on the edge of my seat

begging you, please,

fly down here,

be with me,

but these poems will have to suffice.

I'll send them to you two days too late.
