A/N: Re-write of 'The Darkness of King Scar!' If you're new, this is a romance between Scar and Nala. I assure you no pedophilia or rape will be present here, that's utterly disgusting, but if you don't like this ship, feel free not to read! Thank you, I'm sorry if you don't enjoy this. - Izzy/CresentLuna
" Mom?.. Do you think things will get any better? " The proud lioness stood straight up, she was just now reaching teen years, strange to think afterall this time... she still had barely grown from her certain attachments to life and it's creatures, unlike others, she hadn't lost her hope one bit, and would she ever?.. Her bright eyes flashed with concern, as she peered down upon the slowly dying land. She turned to her mother in disbelief.
" . . . I - - . . . well, lets just say no matter what, fate is cruel, but it always has a way of gifting us with better outcomes if we choose wisely. " For a straight moment, Nala swore up and down that this was Mufasa talking, her mother rarely spoke such words. It was now just striking her that the lively lioness she called her mother was growing old and tired, but wise nonetheless. Nala opened her jaw to speak, but no words came out.
" . . . Scar is nothing like Mufasa. " Was all that managed to come out. " . . . I miss Mufasa and Simba. I don't want this headache of a king! " She snapped a bit, her eyes widening with fury, Sarafina chuckled, making Nala stare in curiosity. Was this any time to laugh? If anything, it's a time to find a better solution! Maybe.. Mufasa has a distant relative we don't know about, someone to take the throne away from that beastly king.
" Scar is indeed nothing like Mufasa, doesn't mean he still isn't a good lion. He just is blinded by pain, those who are heartless cared the most. " Sarafina spoke in a soft voice, her tail flashing around, until her jaw dropped a little at the sight of what she wouldn't expect. Zira padded in, Scar following aimlessly behind, what would he want? He had already forced most of the lionesses into this cramped den, more cramped than the previous den. Scar had the entire den to himself, with his queen.
" . . Oh, Scar! Dearest, please, tell me, do you think I worked hard today? I caught you a zebra! " Zira was always a rat to everyone else, but she always sucked up and bowed at Scar's feet. Though the 'king' didn't reply, he just walked in, and stared at Nala dead straight in her eyes, it made her breathe hitch in shock, his green eyes observed her. A small smile came to his face.
" Nala, is it? " He observed her closely, she didn't respond, her ears just flattened a bit. Surely he knew her name, right? He had seen you with Simba so many times.. it was uncanny though how the lion didn't resemble Mufasa, he was scrawny, his mane wasn't as full, his eyes a bright and piercing green, and his fur a dark brown. No resemblance to that great king, and it didn't comfort you in the least, though you must admit both brothers had a way with their voice. Mufasa's voice demanded attention, yet it was soft and welcoming, though Scar's was quiet and unpleasant, though if he really tried it might've been a sooth and calming voice, but alas, it's just empty.
Nala noticed impatience covering Scar's face, aswell with Zira's, slight jealousy flashing in her eyes. " I . . - - . . . I . . . yes sir. " Despite your utter disrespect for him, you held your tongue on rude remarks, like ' Oh, glad to know you remember my name! I wasn't a family friend or anything. ' It crossed her mind he might just be aiming to play games, that's just great.
" You do look like your mother, surely you'll make yourself useful, and join the hunting parties soon? " She had recalled him calling Sarafina beautiful in the past, it was something along the lines of- ' Oh dear Sarafina, even when you're at your worst and most annoying, your beauty still strikes me as odd. ' Something like that. It made her head tilt, he didn't think she was beautiful, did he? Surely not, the only thing he finds beautiful is this rotting wasteland because it resembles him.
" I have been hunting! " She snapped in an irritated tone, making a crooked smile appear on his muzzle, you frowned rudely. Sarafina stepped forward and nudged me a bit backwards lightly, and she automatically began to discuss with Scar about hunting... Mheetu came at my side, the young cub was pale, she didn't know who the father of her half-brother was, surely not Ni, Ni was dead. Her mother would've told her if her father had returned alive.. wouldn't she?
" . . . Make sure your daughter watches her tongue, I am king afterall . . . I'll only let it past this one time, eventually she better have some respect for her king...! " Sarafina with slight anger, nodded slowly, though she still felt Scar's eyes observing her. It was out of anger, his eyes were just lit with fury, but he turned rudely and gave one last glance, before turning to Zira and talking about heaven knows what.
" I miss Taka.. " Sarafina whispered gradually, her ears flattening a bit. Nala gave a reassuring and hopefully comforting smile to her mother, Mheetu rubbed against his mother in a calm way. Though, beyond her mother, a certain king stared at her, he still was staring. Not in a lustful way, his eyes were just watching her and observing her, she returned the gaze curiously. Zira was still speaking to him, and trying to catch his attention, but the spotlight still laid on Nala. There was an unspoken uncertainty between the both.
Scar's never ending gaze wasn't what she expected, it wasn't full of hate, nor anger, demand, or anything. Though when she opened her mouth to speak, he eventually was able to tear himself away from her gaze. She still for some reason watched, but she took note that he was probably angery with her for something low-minded like not hunting.
Scar was simply speaking to this annoying loud-mouthed brat, Zira. He didn't see her as a companion, but rather an annoying little sister, that he surely wouldn't let die, but he doesn't exactly enjoy her company. Though his mind simply wandered back to Nala, she was a pain in his neck with her eyes that always seemed to stare directly into his with pure fury or wonder. She reminds him of.. Sarafina, a past love. How utterly disgraceful, yet her fur was a darker tone, like Ni's.
Oh how he hated Ni. That egotistical and arrogant feline was best friends with Mufasa, and they always found it right to ruin his day. Thankfully, both lions were where they belonged, dead and simply gone. Though, Nala is different, he never paid much attention to her. It only brought back bad memories to gaze upon her, memories which he'd keep to himself. Though he must admit, she was quite brave yet stupid to stand up to him. Not many lionesses have the stability to do such a thing.
Maybe Sarabi, and even then.. nobody can match Sarabi's elegant confidence, he had both lost Sarafina and Sarabi to both of the tall and 'handsome' lions he hated, he didn't dwell on it, afterall, he would never love again. All he cared for at the moment was his rulership. His 'queen' right now was simply a placeholder so his bloodline doesn't die, he was disgusted, he only took Zira as his mate to keep her safe from Ahadi so long ago.
Now? She is madly in love with him, and if he were any less cold, he might've even felt empathetic that he didn't return her feelings, that he was simply using her for his own benefit, but he wouldn't let her rot in the end as long as she could bare him a strong son. Though, she was scrawny and didn't eat much because most of her food was given up to him, he wasn't a charity, and how will he get his prey if this worthless fleabag is starved?
All the other lionesses wouldn't be willing to step near him, the most optional lionesses for the bloodline would be Sarabi, Sarafina, or Nala. But he found it un-needed to just simply take them as his queen, he had to give Zira a fair chance before he took extra measures. Though it loomed on him that his scrawny figure might transfer to the cub, he had the slightest hope his father's gene would pass onto his cub somehow, but with Zira being scrawny, it's unlikely.
He tiredly huffed, all this thinking is driving him mad. He plopped down and tried to sleep.
