Disclaimer: I don't own The Guardians of Time by Marianne Curley or this poem. It was written by my friend so I can't claim this.
A poem written by my friend, I thought it showed Rochelle's point of view before she dies in The Key, because everything's falling apart around her.
As the earth surrenders,
and the sky turns gray,
as my strength weakens,
and hope begins to stray,
I open my eyes,
I'm living a dreamless sleep,
surrounded by ocean,
I swam too deep,
a sickening silence,
enveloped in dread,
I'm still waiting,
but I'm already dead,
The air turns stale,
I choke on regret,
when the earth lay dying,
It's you I'll never forget.
