Chapter 1

The day was rainy and cold and it wasn't looking to get better. Xander sighed as he stared out the window. The whole gang was together and they were supposed to be researching the latest disaster. Supposed was the key word. No one was feeling any enthusiasm. Some bastard had decided that Sunnydale needed to experience Noah's Flood and had then decided to make it happen. Joy. Willow and Tara were flipping through books listlessly. It wasn't an apocalypse grade problem, but it was starting to get annoying. They'd been trying to find a way to shut off the rain for the past few days. Giles had left for some strange conference or meeting of minds thingy before it started and Buffy was in L.A. visiting Angel. Neither of them were due back for another week.

Everyone jumped when the door slammed open sending a gust of cold wind and a spray of water into the room. With the wind came a very wet, unhappy looking vampire. Spike slammed the door shut and tried to shake some of the water off. It didn't do much good. The only bright side of the constant rain was that there wasn't near enough sun to damage a vampire. Of course, no sensible vampire would be out in this unless they absolutely had to. Actually, everything seemed to be holed up waiting for it to stop. There were going to be some hungry critters wandering around.

Spike stomped past everyone and into the kitchen to get himself some blood. There was no point in starving for no reason. "What are you snickering about whelp?" he snarled. "Haven't you got something better to do?"

Xander looked around and then raised his eyebrows. At some point they'd become friends, but that didn't stop Spike from getting pissy when things weren't to his liking. "You look like a drowned rat. Why'd you come over here anyways?" He was completely unaffected by the scowl Spike directed at him.

"What's it look like? I was just getting' some noshes."

"Yeah, but you don't have to come here to do that."

Spike looked irritated as Xander called his bluff. He drained his blood and threw himself onto the couch. He decided to ignore the question. "When are you happymeals going to get this damn rain shut off?"

"We're working on it Spike," Tara stammered. "There doesn't seem to be any simple spell to do it. We found one spell, but we'd have to do some substitutions. We don't have all the ingredients."

"I could totally do it," Willow chimed in closing her book. Then the rain would be gone and we could all be happy. She smiled perkily.

Spike jumped up. "Oh Hell no! Common whelp, we're getting out of here." He grabbed Xander by the arm and started to drag him to the door ignoring the protesting coming form around him. Witches and complex spells equaled bad things when his pet was around.

"Spike!" Xander yelled.

"What!" Spike yelled right back. "I'm not going to let something happen to you because your witch is spell-happy."

Xander sighed again. "Nothing's going to happen and the spell needs four people. Since you're here we can do it and there shouldn't be any problems."

Spike experienced a sinking feeling in his gut as three pairs of puppy-dog eyes were trained on him. This wasn't going to end well. He could just tell. Bloody hell, he wasn't going to give in, he wasn't… damn. "All right lets just get this over with."
