My first Doctor Who fic, it's 1 am so it;s probably not that well written. I've just watched JE again and this sprang up in my mind. Just a couple of random thoughts of the Doctor's after the end of JE.
The lines in italics are from the Requiem Mass, feel free to base it on any of them, however it was written with Verdi's Messa da Requiem playing on my ipod.
Disclaimer: I'm nowhere witty enough for an amusing line about how I wish I owned Doctor Who, just don't sue.
He sits in the captain's chair, his jacket lying drenched on the floor, his shirt damp, his face a picture of grief, of rage, of utter heartbreak while the TARDIS hums. It is a soft melody, one of pain and sadness.
Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine,et lux perpetua luceat eis.
A reminder, a goodbye really, to the moments savoured and shared with friends and loved ones, of opportunities lost and words never spoken.
Kyrie eleison
If he has to agonise over one regret (as he as many) it is never having the courage to say those three words.
Dies iræ dies illa solvet sæclum in favilla: Teste David cum Sibylla!
His thoughts turn to his other self, born of blood and anger and war, walking away with his prize, a lifetime with the woman of his hearts. Anger boils over and turns to self pity when he remembers the pain of letting her go is self-inflicted.
Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem
He cries for Donna, for a life no longer being lived, for a friend lost.
Lux æterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in æternum,
A prayer is given for Rose, his saviour, his one and only. If he has to be miserable, please, let her life be fantastic, filled with love and laughter. After all she has done for him, she deserves at least that much.
Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
He remembers Sarah Jane, her fearlessness, Rose, her compassion and her smile, Mickey and his hidden intelligence, Jack, his sense of duty and honour, Martha, her bravery in the face of so much adversity, Donna for her no nonsense attitude, her assertiveness and companionship. He remembers them all and while he wishes them all the best of lives, right now, at this very moment he can do nothing more than curse them for giving him a family and then leaving him so totally and utterly alone.
