Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
Harry stared out of his bedroom window of Number 4 Privet Drive, his eyes burning and his head hurting. Not a star could be seen as large dark clouds moved across the sky. His relatives were all sleeping soundly in their beds, Dudley's snores audibly even through his bedroom walls, but Harry couldn't sleep. He didn't want to.
He had been having nightmares lately, their frequency increasing with every passing night. At first, he had tried to simply ignore them, hoping that eventually they would pass, but even after three weeks, they were still there and he would wake up screaming and drenched in sweat.
Soon, he eventually stopped sleeping. If he didn't sleep, he couldn't have any nightmares. He wouldn't see the haunting images of people, some he knew, most he didn't, dying with a green flash and loud scream. But then that gave him a pale sickly look, waking up after finally passing out from exhaustion with dark circles appearing under his eyes. Even Aunt Petunia was starting to take notice, casting a worried look in his direction when she thought he wasn't looking and scowl replacing it if he happened to catch her.
He hissed, his hand tiredly flying up to his burning scar as another shockwave radiated across his head. There was another scream, another green flash and another laugh. He let out his own scream as the pain increased. Please, make it stop. Make it-
"Quiet down in there, freak," came a sleepy-sounding voice, accompanied by a hard knock between the walls separating his and Dudley's bedrooms.
Harry took a few deeps breaths before he leaned forward, letting his head fall against the cool glass. He must have fallen asleep in his tired state and let his defences down. He closed his eyes as he tried to will the pain away. Hopefully he only had a few more days of this.
