Alternatively titled "Coventry Carol – Hogan's Heroes"
A/N: This is based on the Coventry Carol Hymn, also known, in some Hymnals, as "Lully, lullay, thou little tiny child". The song itself, about the massacre of the Holy Innocents, is hauntingly beautiful. The best version I've ever heard is by King's College Cambridge (2011 - it's beautiful).
In Hogan's Heroes, given how dangerous our unsung heroes' jobs of sabotage is, and given Major Hochstetter's presence, and what his job is, I think this is fitting.
Lully, lullay, thou Unsung Heroes,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.
Lully, lullay, thou Unsung Heroes,
Bye bye, lully, lullay.
O Kommandant too, how may we do
For to preserve this day
These poor Heroes for whom we sing,
"Bye bye, lully, lullay"?
Hochstetter the Major, in his raging,
Charged he hath this day
His men of might in his own sight
All yonder saboteurs to slay.
That woe is me, poor Unsung Heroes, for thee
And ever mourn and may
For thy parting neither say nor sing,
"Bye bye, lully, lullay."
