A New Friend
A Rain x J.D. fanfic.
Rain's POV.
A love that should've been!!!
D=
I don't own anything Resident Evil.
Note, the thing about Rain's dad and J.D.'s son is made-up...so if it sucks, I'm terribly sorry. -sweatdrop-
I honestly couldn't say that I was scared...or that I wasn't. I could feel my legs shaking and my eyes aching. No sleep - and I felt like a bitch. The sound of the chopper kind of soothed my nerves...it was loud, yet soft at the same time, but it definitely didn't drown out the talking. Shade - or One, as we call him, kept his cool during a heated conversation between him and Kaplan. I didn't even care what what they were talking about...I just wanted to land and get on the mission. I just kept clutching onto my G36C Assault Rifle, hoping to start the mission in one piece and end it like that...hoping to return home and keep this freaking awesome assault rifle. I had to admit, I love guns way too much, and how I got hooked onto them was my dad Enrique Ocampo. It was a funny story, but long, so I won't explain it.
"Ocampo."
I turned to see J.D. Salinas sitting by my side, his face almost deathly pale.
"What do you want, white-skin?" Of course, I had to say something about his pale face. Why not?
"You seem nervous."
"Look in a mirror. You look like you saw a ghost." I smirked.
"I am scared. I have a son to go back home to."
"That's a reasonable answer."
He looked to my leg, then back up to me. "You're quivering."
"I'm just jittery. I had no sleep last night before this." I narrowed my eyes at him, "so don't piss me off if you want to keep any teeth."
"Feisty." He laughed at me. "Ocampo, you're definitely going to survive through this mission."
I sighed Ocampo. I honestly hated my last name. "You can call me Rain you know, J.D."
"Alright, but you still need to call me by my last name."
"Too bad I'm not."
He laughed at me – again. Annoying. "I can tell."
I smirked.
"So, Rain, why did you join the U.B.C.S.?"
What a pretty personal question. Well...for some. Like me. I wondered why he wanted to know.
"Why? Do I have to have a reason?"
J.D. rolled his eyes, "Come'on. I'm sure everyone has one."
I shrugged. "It's too hard for females like me to join the S.W.A.T. team, so I settled for this."
J.D. laughed. "I bet they're all too chicken hearted to be shown up by a tough chick like you."
I half smirked and half smiled. "Probably."
"Hey, we have about another hour or so before we land in our drop spot. You should rest."
I shook my head, "I'm fine. I can stick it out."
It became an instant stare-down just then. His dark eyes met mine...and I knew he could see the tiredness in them. I bet he could even see all my nervousness and worries. He was deep...and all I could see in his eyes was kindness.
"You sure? I always have an open shoulder."
I laughed then. "You're not very smooth when it comes to ladies, huh?"
"I don't know if you'd be considered a lady." J.D. laughed again, but this time it didn't annoy me.
"What a lovely compliment." I laughed. It was true.
"Your welcome, Rainbow."
"Hey, no funny nicknames yet!"
Nudging him, I felt limp as he put his strong arm around my shoulders. Holding me close, I felt the warmth of his body through my dark U.B.C.S. military uniform and his. Closing my eyes, I still kept a hold of my assault rifle and I laid my head against his broad shoulder.
"Rest up, Rain."
Those were the last words I heard, followed by the flipping of the chopper as I fell asleep against J.D. - my new friend.
