Okay, so this story was done under request from a Guest review and on a show I haven't seen in so long. However, I do remember some of the episodes and, mainly out of nostalgia, I decided to do a short story on it.
I do not own the Koala Brothers, all rights belong to their original owners. I don't own the cover image either.
Enjoy the story!
Antarctica. Australia. Cold, snowy, icy, freezing. Boiling hot temperatures, scorching sand, desert. One had koalas, platypuses, wombats, kangaroos and other animals, the other had orcas, seals, skuas, and penguins like her.
From inside a warm igloo whilst in the middle of a blizzard, a lone penguin scribbled onto a piece of parchment paper with a pencil. Upon a hook on the wall she had placed a white, outback hat and on the one beside it was a hiking bag with a canteen and a tarp placed on the outside of it. A little dressing table was beside it, with a lamp, some binoculars, and a photo frame, containing the images of her plus two koalas, a tortoise, a possum, a kangaroo, an echidna, a crocodile, a wombat, and an emu, all smiling and looking happy.
After completing the letter, she then selected an envelope from a box beside her and folded the letter up before placing it in. A small box of stamps was nearby and she selected one before, with some trouble with it sticking on her flipper, placing it on the envelope and sealing it up, cringing at the taste of dry glue.
After placing the correct address on it, she then crawled through the tunnel to the outside world. She used her spare flipper to cover her eyes as a blast of chilly winds and snowflakes blasted her vision. Navigating by squinting, she made it towards a blue, white and yellow mailbox. After prying the ice of it, she pulled it open and quickly slipped it in before closing. She then hurriedly waddled back to home.
Once inside, she immediately set about making a mug of hot chocolate before sitting in her favorite comfy chair before the fire. While sipping her cocoa, her eyes fell upon the picture frame on the stand. A smile crept upon her beak as she shut her eyes and thought back to Australia.
It was hot, much too hot for her taste. She remembered the first time she traveled there she had forgotten to bring enough water, thus she spent time wandering thirsty and hot before she had finally came upon two kind chaps, brother koalas Frank and Buster. They had helped her out, getting her some water before introducing her to the rest of their friends.
Happy memories followed. Them helping her out when she planned to stay there for a while. Her knitting a sweater for the emu with the icecream truck. An outback croquet match. A hunt for her missing boomerang. The nicest surprise birthday party she had ever received.
A wide smile graced her face as she remembered all the wonderful times she had shared with everyone.
"I should visit them again sometime," she thought. "I'm sure they all love to see me again. And I know I would be happy to see them again too."
The blizzard kept raging outside, but the penguin inside her igloo remained warm and toasty with her fire, her cocoa, and her memories with her friends out on the Australian Outback.
Technically speaking, Australia is 6,400 miles away from Antarctica, give or take, but '6,000' sounded better for the title.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading this. Please leave a review if you liked it, thank you the Guest reviewer who commissioned this, and please feel free to check out some of my other stories. Sincerely, v.t.7
