Shadow
Darkness falls across her. Eyes close, inhaling the sharp winter. She won't turn, fists ball, nails cutting into flesh. She won't turn.
"He's gone." She reminds herself, forcing her green eyes open, staring ahead. She tries to walk away. Don't look back. She tries to move on.
She fails.
Blonde hair catches in the wind. Her heart betraying her, leaping with hope. Eyes searching.
Empty. Just darkness. She pulls her eyes away, hugging her jacket tighter to her. She trudges onward, tears streaming. Foolish girl, she knows better.
It's never him.
It's only a shadow.
He's gone.
Only a shadow.
