Rushing up the stairs to the bedroom she and Killian shared, Emma Swan started searching through the drawers and closet that she had. She had misplaced her cell phone and this was the last place she had seen it as she had made a call to Henry before she went to work that morning.

Rummaging through her bedside cabinet and seeing no sign of it, her eyes darted to the sea chest which resided next to Killian's side of the bed. She knew the phone wouldn't be in there, but for some reason something inside of her told her to go and have a look.

Walking slowly over to the sea chest which was slightly worn with age, Emma knelt down in front of it and lifted the lid. Not a lot was in there apart from a few of Killian's clothes and a secret bottle of rum hidden right down the bottom under a pair of trousers. She would have to have another word with him about laying off the rum later.

Shaking her head in amusement and placing the bottle back where she had found it, her hand accidentally brushed against the pocket of the trousers and she felt something hard in there.

Curiosity came over her as she pulled out the object that was in it. There in the palm of her hand was a small black box.

Emma gasped as she realised what she could possibly be holding. But it couldn't be! Could it?

Not wanting to wait any longer to find out, Emma lifted the lid of the box. Sitting proudly in the middle was a beautiful engagement ring. An engagement ring that was obviously chosen with great care.

Emma couldn't do nothing but stare at it for a few moments, not quite believing what she was seeing. Killian was going to propose to her but she had beat him to it by finding the ring first. She didn't quite know why she had wanted to look in the sea chest but she was so glad she did.

Killian made her so happy. Even though everything hadn't always run smoothly for them, they had always made it out on the other side together. She loved him and she always would.

Emma never used to see herself as the marrying type. She remembered when she used to be alone with no family, no friends, no hope. It was funny how things could change within the space of a few years.

Now, she had found a family who loved and cared for her and had stuck with her to hell and back, literally. She had her mom and dad, she had Henry, and she had found something with Killian she thought she never deserved to have. True love.

Killian always made her feel special, even when she was at her lowest. He always picked her up when she fell and he understood her like no one else could. He could always make her laugh and his smile could make even the hardest of days better. That was what she loved about him.

Once upon a time, Emma would have given it a bit of thought before accepting his proposal. She used to have walls built around her but he had knocked them all down, with a bit of time of course. There was no doubt in her mind, her answer would always be yes.

Hearing the door open downstairs, Emma put the box back into the sea chest and shut the lid and placed the ring into her pocket. It was time to start the new chapter of her life and she couldn't be more ready for it.

"Emma? Are you home?"
