A/N: First CotT fanfiction, hope you like it. Normally, I don't do angst, but the song merits the effors. The song is 'The Moment I Said It' by Imogen Heap. AxA

The moment I said it,
The moment I opened my mouth
Lead in your eyelids,
Bulldozed the life out of me

"I hate you! Get out of my life! I never want to see you again!" Atlanta yelled, furious tears fogging her vision. Archie looked shocked, as if he'd been slapped hard, and the angry light behind his eyes faded. He turned away slowly and slipped into his room, shutting the door softly while Atlanta slammed her door.

I know what you're thinking,
But darling you're not thinking straight
Sadly things just happen we can't explain

Some inexplicable tension had rended the fragile continuity of their existence, a silent beast with claws and fangs that had stolen the soul of her best friend, leaving an empty, hollow shell.

He lead a half-life, because, in three words, she'd killed him inside.

It's not even light out,
But you've somewhere to be
No hesitation
No I've never seen you like this,
And I don't like it
I don't like it
I don't like it at all

Atlanta had recovered from that argument, but Archie didn't appear to. Never at breakfast and never around for the team, he faded out of their lives, more an intangible concept than a person. Atlanta didn't like it at all, and grew uneasy and restless.

Just put back the car keys,
Or somebody's gonna get hurt
Who are you calling at this hour?
Sit down, come round, I need you now
We'll work it all out together,
But we're getting nowhere tonight
Now sleep, I promise it'll all seem better,
Somehow in time

"Don't go. Come back, it's too early to be out," Atlanta urged. Archie ignored her.

"Come back in. We can make this better, I know it!" Atlanta called desperately, a note of hysteria entering her voice.

It's not even light out,
Suddenly (suddenly) oh, you've somewhere to be
With no hesitation
Oh, I've never seen you like this
You're scaring me
You're scaring me
You're scaring me to death

Archie's fade scared Atlanta, and she knew it was all her own fault and she was solely responsible for the disappearance of their once obnoxious, vivid team mate and friend.

She had his life in her hands.

Don't…ohh

Please don't…ohh
Don't…ohh
Please don't…ohh I'm losing you, I'm losing you

"Don't you get it, Archie? I thought you were my best friend! I need you!"

"Where are you? Don't leave us!"

"I'm losing you…"

A broken whisper in the night, as she realises she's dying inside and that she loves him and needs him, because he is her sun and her air and her earth.

Trust me on this one
I've got a bad feeling,
Trust me on this one
You're gonna throw it all away
With no hesitation

She slips into his room like a shadow and steals over to kiss him softly.

"I'm sorry. I don't want to lose you."

Because they are one and the same, and as surely as the sun rises, they will die without each other.
