Lina's present

Lina and friends were happily eating at yet another restaurant. They were sparred Amelia's presence because she was teaching justice to some young idiots who listened intently at another table. Zelgadis and Xellos were both sipping their drinks with one hand under the table. Lina knew they were holding hands. Why? Because she was smart like that. Ever since she stumbled upon the two of them kissing she had been able to tell when they did something subtle like that.

Naga sat at the back table and watched her rival. She knew the perfect way to get her revenge on Lina. The waiter came to take her order.

"Do you see that red-head over there?" She asked.

"The one with the huge appetite and purple haired friend?" the waiter asked.

"That's the one." Naga said, smiling. "It's her birthday today."

"Really?"

Naga nodded.

"Great!" and he sped off to tell the other waiters. Naga sat and watched as her plan unfurled.

Lina saw Zel stand up and start to leave.

"Hey, where ya' going?" she asked.

"My room." He said. Xellos popped up.

"I'll go with you!" he said cheerily, "Maybe I can help you with some more spells." Lina shakes her head as they walk off together.

Then she sees them. Twenty waiters walking towards her. Franticly she looks around for help. Zel and Xellos were gone; Amelia was too wrapped up in her teachings, and her knight in shining armor? Lina faced him only to see that he was deep in sleep.

'What a guardian he is.' Lina thought. She turned only to see that the waiters now almost circled the table.

"We heard that it's your birthday!" the lead waiter said cheerfully. "We would like to celebrate this with you." As if on cue the others took a deep breath and started singing the happy birthday song that all restaurants perform. Lina covered her ears, and then tried to sink under the table. As Gourry snored on she thought of what action she could take to get out.

"I can't take this!" she yelled while standing up. Then she fled, running down the road. The waiters followed her, singing all the way.

Later that night Naga was still laughing over her victory. She turned a corner and ran into a very angry Lina.

"Naga!" she fumed, "I'm gonna kill you!" she closed her eyes and started a chant under her breath. Naga held her hands up in surrender.

"Now Lina, I didn't know they would chase you! Honestly I didn't!" Naga tried to talk her way out of it. Lina opened her eyes.

"FIREBALL!!!" Lina hurtled the spell at Naga.

Lina walked past the scorching looser feeling much, much better. Fireballing the waiters earlier on had left her feeling better, but she always had to get the boss.
