"Are you sure this is the place?"
"Sure I'm sure. Come on, I'm sure they've started by now."

Two teenagers ran through the empty hallway, flying past open and closed doors. Some were rooms being cleaned out, others being prepped for the new school year. The pair kept running however. They were already late.

These two were twins. A boy and a girl, with hair as white as the floor's newly cleaned tiles.

The girl had her hair pinned up in ponytails and was struggling to keep up the pace with her brother due to the large green case she carried. She found herself regretting the sweater that she decided to wear today.

The boy was the girl's older twin by five minutes. His hair seemed to be in a constant state of disarray. He had much less trouble in his flight through the halls because his case was much easier to hold in his arms, compared to the one his sister was practically dragging.

"Ah, there it is!"

The girl pointed with her free arm to the one door at the end of the hall that was propped open with a music stand.

The pair skidded to a halt, peering inside the doorway. The room was spacious, with about seven smaller rooms linked to it through windowed doors. One of these rooms led to an office, presumably the director's office. Another had its window covered with what looked like a flag with a sigil that seemed to be plastered everywhere in the main room. People dashed in and out of these rooms on a regular basis.

Ah, yes.

Band camp.

The place where students are made into musicians in the span of two weeks. The place where the baton of responsibility is passed from the previously graduated class to the new graduating class. The place where bonds are formed like a freshly forged medieval sword...the list goes on.

"Phew… We made it," the brother sighed.

"No thanks to you. We were late because you took forever getting out of bed, Allen."

"Not like you're in any place to talk, you know. It's hard to sleep when you're up late doing whatever you do with your games."

"Hey, Pedestal of Flames is a masterpiece and you should refer to it as such-"

"Ah, hello!"

The two snow haired siblings ceased bickering. Before them stood a young woman (most likely a senior at this school) who carried an aura of peace in the very air around them. On her forehead stood the very sigil that was around the room.

"I assume you two are joining the marching band?" She said, a smile in her voice.

"Oh! Yes, that's us," the sister responded, fumbling over her own words.

"Can I get a name from you two? Oh, and your instruments as well."

The twins smiled, feeling as though they could trust this woman.

"My name is Angel," the sister said, placing her case at her feet. "I play bass clarinet. I've been doing this since third grade."

"And I'm Allen," the brother said. He straightened his posture a bit, showing confidence. "I play french horn and mellophone! I've been going all over the place, though. There's a lot to play."

The upperclassman merely smiles at their enthusiasm, the smallest of giggles escaping her lips. "It's very nice to meet you two." She replies, extending a hand. "I'm Emmeryn, drum major of the Shepherds, although instrument-wise, I play lead on the marimbas."
Emmeryn hid a smile as she saw the blood drain from the twins' faces as they realized they were arguing in front of their leader.

"Oh my gods, Allen-"

"This is all her fault." Allen pointed at his twin.

"Hey, wait a second!"

"You're the one who got overly sensitive about your stupid videogames!"
"I happen to be one of the best players of said videogame! You're just upset that you can't be as good as me."

"Oh, that tears it-"

"Bring it on, older twin!"

"Alright, I think that's enough." Emmeryn laughs, stepping between the twins before they come to blows. "Goodness, you two remind me of my brother Chrom."

The white haired duo immediately stop. They blush a bit, avoiding eye contact with the other twin, while trying to pay attention to their drum major.

"Who...who is Chrom?" Allen murmurs.

"He's one of my siblings! Chrom is the middle child, and my sister Lissa is the youngest. I'm the oldest of the three of us." The blonde haired woman spoke with warmth in her voice, clearly fond of her family. "Chrom and Lissa are always at odds with each other, but it's all done in a tough love sort of way."

"That's nice."

"It really is..."

"Oh, will we get to meet him?" Angel asks, her interest piqued.

Allen shoots her a look, his eyebrow raised in suspicion. The younger twin tries to ignore it, silently panicking.

"Yes, you will! He's my assistant drum major. Chrom will be doing most of the work this year so he'll be busy most of the time, but trust me, you'll know when you'll see him." She leaves the twins to wonder who this sibling/assistant drum major of her's was, turning on her heel to walk in the direction away from the twins. "Ah, I'm sorry to cut this chat short, but I have to go do some things before band camp kicks off. But please, if you need any help or advice, or you just want to talk, come see me!"
And just like that, the senior leaves the twins in silence, the expressions on their faces blank and distant. It is until Angel begins to squeal with intense glee does this minute of silence end.

"I think we made a great first impression to the drum major! Allen, do you know how important that is? It's like talking to the President!" She begins to ramble, whether Allen was listening to her or not. "And her assistant drum major is her younger brother? That's a little weird to think of; I didn't know siblings could both end up with those positions, but whatever."

She waves off her indifferent feelings to continue her thoughts with growing optimism.

"Chrom sounds like a cool guy anyways, so it should be cool to have him as an assistant drum major. Sucks she didn't introduce us to him, but I guess the mystery is what makes this interesting."

Her ramblings end once she glances at her brother. "...Are...are you okay?" Allen has one of the widest grins on his face, repeatedly raising his eyebrows at Angel.

"You're interested!" He blurts, a teasing tone evident in his voice.

The younger twin's face immediately burns a bright pink as she stumbles over her words, sputtering.

"I- No I'm not! Why'd you have to make this weird?"

"Come on, you're totally interested in this guy!"

"It's not that, I just-"

"Just whaaaaat?" Allen smirks, being pushed away by his sister.

"It's just that...his name sounds familiar. Like from a dream I had. It's hard to explain."

Allen's expression softens. He leans into his sister's shoulder and gives her a pat. "That's right, your dreams. Did you remember anything?"

The twin's eyebrows crease as she tries to remember, eyes trailing off around the room. "Nothing really significant… A tome? A blue haired boy? ...Something like that. I always forget after I wake up."

"Eh, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, sis. We both know how you get with your dreams."

"I guess…" Angel narrows her eyes, scratching her head.

"Anyways, shouldn't we go and find our sections? You do know there are other people here, right?" Allen laughs, pushing his sister ever so slightly.

"Ah, you're right! I have to make a good impression on the others!"

"If there are others."

Angel frowns at her brother's remark. "...Right. I forgot that bass clarinets don't really have sections."

"Come on, you never know for sure! Let's go see."

"Okay, okay. I'll go."
