-1Any Price is worth your Smile

A/N: Yes this probably IS OOC, which I won't moan about for once, this fic is really quite personal to me. So simply: if you don't like it, don't review. However Constructive Crit is most welcome.

Forde gazed into the full body mirror. He had no shirt on and was admiring the violent welts and purple bruises forming all over his chest. He smiled slightly at them, doing his best to ignore their intense glares of brutal hatred.

Most people would not smile given the circumstances, but Forde was able to; he knew he had let his emerald haired partner release the built up tension he had gathered. Since becoming king. Ephraim had really hit down on the other cavalier - raising his expectations of the previously well-respected knight. Kyle hadn't be able to cope with the harsh words and over-aimed expectations too well - it had really knocked him into a depression, which in turn sent him into a spiral of anguish.

Forde had found Kyle in one of his rages once. He was beating the wall with savage strength - again and again. His knuckles were a blood coated mess, but still he pummelled the wall. Forde had approached him and grabbed one of his hands before it hit the wall again. In his rage Kyle had turned and smashed the blonde cavalier in the face, sending him flying back to crash into the floor. He hit it with a dull 'thud.'

Fordes' head span as he sat up and wiped at a small stream of blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Kyle had just decked him. The blonde knight glanced up; their eyes locked. The fire from before; burning fiercely in Kyle's eyes had faded - it had been replaced with a well hidden smile.

Forde smiled on the inside, there was a way to cure Kyle's need to mutilate himself! Even if it meant the taller male would beat him black and blue, in Fordes eyes the price was worth it.

It was from that day, Forde would go to his partners room each night and submit to the abuse. People often asked him why his face was bruised or he wheezed when he spoke. He would simply put on his usual goofy smile and reply that he had fallen off his horse again, or fallen asleep on some weaponry. Nobody expected the blonde to lie so things were left at that. Kyle was grateful for the silence his friend gave, and in return would give him a passionate kiss or tender apology whenever he felt calm.
