Kazeshini ignored the cries of the baby boy he'd just abandoned. His heart nearly ripped itself in twain but the warmth flowing down his forearm served as valid proof of his decision.

The life of a sword...

He could never raise the child. And yet his heart yearned for one act of kindness.

"Woman," Kazeshini didn't wait for the timid woman to speak before continuing his whim. "Call him Shuuhei." A single tear rolled freely from his blue eyes. The tiny child behind him called for him fiercely but he couldn't answer. All he could do was send a whispered plea.

"Don't cry..."

He didn't know if he spoke to the baby, or himself.
