But I Am Closer to the Clouds Up Here
December 2012
Finals Week
"Anastasia," Loki's voice was concerned and I looked up to see him and Tony walking into the study room. "You need to take a break. You'll burn yourself out."
I almost wanted to tell him that he was wrong, but I could feel the storm of tears that made me want to burst. I was so tired, and so stressed. I glanced out the window, before looking at the clock. It was going on five in the afternoon and I'd been studying since noon.
"C'mon." He held a hand out to me. "Let's go. I know your exam isn't until Wednesday. You can take a break."
"Okay," I took it, sighing. "What are we doing?"
"Just go on upstairs and shower, okay? Anthony will put your bag in his car."
"What do I need to wear?" I asked, frowning at Loki's secrecy.
"Something nice," He decided. "Not formal, but a dress would be good."
"Okay," I pressed a soft kiss to his cheek and ventured upstairs. Loki was good about keeping secrets and I was sure that he wouldn't crack, so I just did as he said.
"Is this okay?" I asked quietly, as I approached the boys downstairs. I was wearing my favorite purple sweater dress and my black slouch boots. My long hair was pinned into a curly bun and I hesitated when they didn't immediately speak.
"Of course, love." Loki promised, standing with Tony. "You look amazing."
I flushed a little as I pulled my coat on, and we headed out to Tony's car. Neither of them would tell me anything as we sped towards the city and it wasn't until we parked next to Broadway, that I started to have a clue.
"Loki?" I question, my heart racing and I almost cried when he pressed the ticket into my hand. "Really?"
"Yes, merry Christmas Anastasia."
My eyes watered as I started at the ticket in my hand before I threw my arms around Loki. "Thank you, thank you,"
"It was Anthony's idea love," Loki told me, and I released him to whirl around and hug Tony just as tightly, trying to hold back the tears.
"Thank you, Tony."
"Awww, don't cry," He told me, smiling. "C'mon, let's find our seats."
I almost skipped into the theater, grinning as I read the word on the poster above the entrance. "RENT".
