A/N: This is a oneshot!
(Beckett)
"Esposito, Ryan, go around back and cut him off!" I yelled as I chased the man who shot me. People in the streets continued to get into my way, slowing me down and not allowing me to shoot the man who tried to take my life. Adrenaline helped me keep up the pursuit and I saw the man run into a dark alley. I knew that once I got into that alley, I would be on my own. Esposito and Ryan would not be able to help if I got into some sort of trouble. However, I wanted revenge so I pursued him into the alley. "Stop!" I yelled to no avail. The man continued running and I saw him reach into one of his jacket pockets. Sunlight gleamed off the large blade and the man finally stopped. I paused and went for my gun, "Don't move! NYPD, I'm placing you under arrest for attempted murder."
"Ah, Katherine Beckett daughter of Johanna Beckett. You know, I had a great time watching your mother die; it was a wonderous sight to see. Ironic, really. She died in an alley and now her daughter is going to die in the same alley." The man laughed.
That was when I finally realized where I was; the man was right, this was the alley where my mother was murdered. "How dare you! You took my mother away from me! The pain I have felt for many years will never leave! All because of you! If you had not killed her, we would have had dinner with her that night and I would not be standing right here now!" I lifted the gun.
"I would not do that if I were you." The man pointed to the roof, "Snipers come in handy you know."
I looked up and saw the outline of the sniper and lowered my gun, trying to think of my next move.
The man laughed, "You are defenseless now. What are you going to do? Beg for your life or plead for your death? I think I would much rather go with the last one." He raised the knife in the air, "Goodbye, Katherine Beckett."
This is it; it is finally time for me to die. I looked in the eyes of my mother's murderer, my murderer. The knife was about to start it's journey down toward my throat; I never closed my eyes.
I heard somebody yell my name, "Beckett!"
A loud gunshot sliced through the atmosphere. The man in front of me fell to the ground, clutching his side; blood ran through his fingers as he tried to stop the bleeding. The sniper laughed, "You really need to hire different snipers. Somebody could easily knock the real one out. He's all yours, Beckett."
(Castle)
I smiled as she cuffed the mans hands. "You never cease to amaze me, Castle. Where did you even learn to fire a sniper rifle?"
I smiled, "Esposito taught me. Anyway, I saw the sniper up here on the building seconds before you entered here in the alley with him." I pointed at the man in cuffs. "So, I came up here through the fire escape and knocked the real sniper out while you two were chatting."
"Thanks, Castle." She said.
He shrugged, "I promised you I would help you find who shot you and who killed your mother. I guess we just killed two birds with one stone. Besides, I have your back as well as Esposito and Ryan. We are partners after all." I realized I was still up on the roof, "I'm coming down now. It feels weird talking to you from up here." I turned around and went toward the fire escape and sighed at my bad luck. I then walked back over to the edge of the building and looked down at the others, "Um... I need one of you to open this door; I'm locked out."
Beckett laughed, "Only you Castle. Ryan, go and unlock the door. We need to get back to the station as soon as we can."
