I dunno...I just felt the desire to write a sweet, fluffy Baljinger. X) There isn't enough of it in the world!

I'm saying they're in their teens, sometime during high school.

Gripping the bottom of her book bag, Ginger took a deep breath and braced herself.

Here goes nothing, she thought, and began to walk at a brisk pace, her head turned away.

Then, just as she had hoped, she slammed into someone. At the same moment, she "accidentally" overturned her bag, causing her books to spill out over the floor.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" she said, her heart hammering with nervousness, and feeling a little giddy as she knelt down to gather her books back up.

"It is no problem," said a voice, getting to his knees and helping Ginger. The Japanese-American girl stole a glance up at the boy facing her. His dark, shaggy hair concealed his eyes.

They reached for the last book at the same moment, and their fingers touched. Ginger quickly drew back.

"Ooh…" Baljeet said as he rose to his feet. Ginger straightened up too, and watched as he admired the book in his hands.

"Advanced algebra and trig?" Baljeet questioned, looking up at her. Ginger hoped her cheeks weren't red as she felt them grow hot. Not able to find her voice, she simply nodded.

"Do you like it?" Baljeet pushed.

"No!" Ginger said, her eyes widening. "It's a nightmare!"

"I love it!" Baljeet replied. Then, awkwardly, "I...I might could help. You know...give you some pointers...if you wanted." Baljeet rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

Her eyes brightened, and Ginger flashed a wide smile.

"That would be nice!" she said sweetly.

Baljeet gave a relieved smile and held the textbook up for Ginger to take. She grasped the other end.

"So...this afternoon then?" Baljeet asked. "After school?"

"Sure!" Ginger said a little too eagerly. "I mean...yeah, sure. You know, whatever. It's all good bro."

"Great!" Baljeet finished.

They stood facing each other for a few more seconds, and then Ginger realized they were both still holding her textbook.

"Um..."

"Oh!" Baljeet said, letting go. "Sorry."

"No...it was...fine."

She took a step backwards.

"Well, I'll see you later than."

"See you," Baljeet finished. Then he turned around and strode away.

Ginger sighed happily.

"What was that all about?" said a familiar voice. Ginger whirled around and saw her friend Milly walking towards her.

A dreamy look still on her face, Ginger opened her dark green jacket so the inside could be seen. Milly looked in closer to see a large, round patch with the image of an eye and a heart.

"I just saw a cute boy," she said simply.

Milly shook her head, a smirk on her face.

"I can't believe you managed to keep it after all these years! But I guess I can't disagree with you...Baljeet's turned out pretty nice looking."

And there you go! Review? :D
