Chapter 1
The Untold Story
There has always been an unwritten rule that shinigamis can't fall in love with humans. Let alone have a relationship with one. When one is caught breaking this rule, consequences are severe. And yet, unwritten rule or not, everybody obeys. There are no loopholes whatsoever. Neither are there any exceptions. Not even for nobles. In fact, especially nobles.
Nobles are expected to set a good example inside and outside the Sereitei. Inside and outside the Soul Society.
Many centuries ago, it was never rare for humans to see spirits; or as humans call them -- 'ghosts'. So to say the least, shinigamis can freely interact with almost any human. Though, this did not go well with the elders within the Soul Society. They reasoned that since shinigamis are spirits that already passed through the gates of the afterlife, they need not to dwell ay longer on their life back on earth.
Researchers have found that this is toying with the great balance of all things. These interactions also made hollows capable of masking and blending themselves with everyone else. Thus making it easier for them to eat their soulful meals. And making it harder for soul reapers to do their jobs.
The elders then decided that it would be best for them to cut off all the connections present. They agreed to inform every shinigami, specially the ones staying on earth, about the current conditions. They also agreed to set a division between Soul Society and earth, only having gates present so that shinigamis could still go to earth if generally needed. With permission, of course.
This decision resulted to the establishment of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Each Squad is assigned a captain, or a taichou, and a vice-captian, or a fukutaichou. Then comes third seat, fourth seat and so on. Each squad member is ranked by their abilities, so not having surpassed the captain and vice-captain, third seat is already an honor.
Lastly, they agreed to have every single humans' memory of the shinigamis to be erased. With this also comes the deletion of their abilty to see spirits. But not everyone went under their spell. It wasn't as powerful as they thought it would be.
A/N: This story goes IchixHime in the beginning but it'll go IchixRuki in later chapters. I'm not really a big fan of IchixHime. So there. Tell me what you think.
Oh, and apologies for the short chapter. I'm gonna type out the next chapters for my others stories after uploading this baby.
