Devyn

One day a little girl was born,

She woke up every morning with a smile on her face,

A mischievous glint in her eyes,

One day that all changed

She gave up on the fun,

She gave up on dreams,

She gave into lies,

One day she didn't recognize herself anymore,

She saw no longer a carefree child,

She saw what everyone wanted her to be,

One day the girl fled,

She sought refuge solitarily,

Yet she found herself even more unhappy,

One day she found a home,

Something she could call her own,

She had friends,

She had a life again as herself,

One day they were all kicked out,

Said to be destined for greater things,

Free … but was she?

One day the girl realized something,

She wasn't like the others,

But she was stuck,

One day the girl gave up again,

She had no other choice,

She never had one to begin with,

She just wished things could be different,

She wished for a chance to for once … choose,

But choices define you forever,

The girl was scared to take that chance,

So she still waits for,

One day.
