Over. It was finally over. They couldn't believe it. Who was behind all that, but most of all how they never noticed that another person, a total stranger, was standing here, next to them, all this time, pretending to be their friends. They just stood here, trying to understand, as the police officer was taking Alex away, was taking A.D. away. Spencer couldn't do anything. She couldn't talk, she couldn't move, she couldn't even think. A few seconds, and then she broke down, falling on the ground. Toby immediately ran to her, wrapping his arms around her, slowly caressing her hair as he let her cry onto his shoulder, "It's okay, Spence. I'm here. You're safe, I'm taking you home.", he whispered so that only she could hear it. Spencer almost immediately calmed down. The others couldn't understand what Toby told her to calm her down, but they didn't have to. After all, he was still her safe place to land.
A few hours had passed, Spencer was just sitting in the shower, letting the hot water go on her skin. She was still in shock, even if she was safe, even if Toby wasn't far, she was still scared and hadn't said a word since hours. She heard a knock on the bathroom's door and started shaking, but then she heard his voice, "I just called your parents, they understand that you're not ready to talk about what happened to you, and they saidthey will wait until you are. I didn't say a word about..", he paused. He clearly wasn't ready to talk about it either, she could tell it just by the sound of his voice, "Anyway, um.. I'll be in the living room if you need anything.", he followed before going to the living room. When they were leaving the creepy 'dollhouse' Spencer and Ezra had been trapped in, Toby could tell that Spencer clearly couldn't be left alone, but wasn't ready to face her family, including Ali. Ezra and Aria would probably want to be left alone just the two of them, and it would be way too weird if she stayed at Hanna and Caleb's for the night. So, Toby offered her to stay at his place, and she accepted. And here she was now, wrapping a towel around her body as she finally got out of the shower.
Toby sat down on the couch, staring at the ground. He had tried to stay strong, mostly for her, but he was so broken. He felt destroyed, violated, abused. That goodbye kiss, that night at the cabin, that moment in his hotel room.. Every moment Alex was pretending to be Spencer, he should have known something wasn't normal, that she was acting weird. He hated himself for not realizing. He could have done something to save them. To save her. "Toby ?", he heard Spencer's voice calling him. He looked up at her, he could now see a little bit of hope in her eyes. She would have wanted to say so many things to him, she would have wanted to run to him and hold him, but it was too soon. For both of them. So, with a soft smile, she simply said, "thank you."
Alison was getting ready to go to bed while Emily was already in their daughters' room, trying to get them to sleep. As she walked back to their bedroom, Emily noticed that Alison wasn't like she usually was. She sat down next to her, taking her hand in hers, "It's going to be okay, Ali.", she said as Alison looked up at her, smiling a little.
