Sounds of music and laughter can still be heard from the lake, not very far from the where the feast was held. People were dancing and drinking, celebrating the victory of the war. People seemed to enjoy the moment... but not her, not Athena.
Athena walked further and further into the silence and the dark of the night, she kept her pace through the side of the lake, into the forest. Sweet scents of the trees seemed to calm her down, slowly easing her from the war in her thoughts.
'Celebrate the death, sacrifice, the pain, the loss... with laughter and wine? Are they have already forgotten their fallen friends?' She sighed, and shook her head in disbelief. It was not a new thing, everything was a recurrence, a repetation, but somehow, she always felt this way.
She strode beside the big willow tree when she suddenly heard voices, then she paused, to listen.
It was a sound of laughter, gigglish kinda laughter, the laughter she recognized quite well enough.
"Hmph" she decided to avoid the noise, but when she turned her body to the opposite direction, a deer jumped into her from the bushes, with a good reflexes, she slide her body to avoid the deer but then accidentaly bumped into something else, she drew out a beautifully carved and sharp dagger, already prepared to defend herself.
"Ouch" Aphrodite fell into the ground, she glanced a cold stare to Athena, who were already pointing the dagger into her direction. "Why?" Aphrodite said again.
Athena stared at her for a few seconds, then drew back the dagger. She kept silent.
"You wont even help me up?" Aphrodite said with a slower tone.
Athena looked at her surrounding, it looked like she was expecting something... someone jumps from the bushes.
Aphrodite was still on the ground, she also observing the surrounding as Athena did, "What is it that you are looking for?" she asked her.
Athena turned her head to stare at Aphrodite, "I heard you giggling, and laughing, I'm waiting for your companions to show up".
"Have you forgotten you scared the deer away? I was chasing the deer, it took my parchment then went into the woods, I was following it... there's goes my companion," Aphrodite shook her head, pouting her mouth.
"Hmph, so the goddess of love is not making love tonight? Like the one and only thing that she always do?" Athena said in a bitter tone. "And you can get up by yourself, dont be such a weak, there was war just before the dawn, and I saw a man with one leg can still get up by himself".
"You don't have to be so rude to me" Aphrodite said then she getting up slowly, fixing her white dress and brushing the leaves off of it with her delicate hands. "Make love is better than make war, now that is a wisdom for the goddess of wisdom", she teased.
Athena moved closer to Aphrodite, and stared sharply at her eyes, she said with a stern voice, "I have no time to argue nonsense, especially with you". Then Athena started to walk away from Aphrodite.
"Why do you always being so rude to me? What have I done to you? Answer me". Aphrodite said as Athena kept walking and ignored her question.
Then she dissapeared into the darkness of the woods.
Aphrodite slowly sat on the rock, gazing at the stars above, feeling like she never felt such silence before. No one ever walked away just like that from her, being rude to her, like Athena. She did not like this thoughts in her mind, especially for the part of why this bothers so much.
Athena rest her back on the tree, her head is worse then before... because of her, because of Aphrodite, with her giggles, she does not like the sound of it, those are the sounds that she heard when she saw Aphrodite flirts and tease and being friendly.. all to friendly to others, to people to friend, what an attention seeker she is, everything is annoying, she is annoying. Athena sighed, wonder why these thing even bothers her.
