A shiver passed Keira as she glances out the window of her shared apartment.
Gary clouds were quickly starting to cover the village and she was beginning to feel nervous.
It wasn't as if she was afraid of rain, just the thunder and lightning. She was an adult and yet still got spooked over a little noise and light, it wasn't a fact she was proud of.
The situation was worse when she realized the one person who could comfort her, wasn't home yet.
Keira paces around the bedroom nervously, not noticing the rain starting to fall from the dark clouds.
She jumped when there was a loud booming sound outside, it was thunder. A sense of fear flooded through her body, another boom sounded and Keira clasped her hands over her ears.
'This is pathetic,' Keira thinks to herself, 'There's no reason to be afraid of a little thunder.'
But she was wrong. As there was another boom, Keira found herself now curled up in a corner of the room.
She hadn't lowered her hands either, she clenches her eyes shut as the noise grows louder.
Keira felt tears welling up in her eyes and then as they slid down her cheeks, she felt weak and vulnerable.
She stayed like that a few moments before jumping in fear again, but this time because someone placed a hand on her shoulder.
Keira opens her tear filled eyes to see Kakashi, she felt happy suddenly to know he was there. But there was still a sense of fear within her.
She quickly wraps her arms around his neck and pulls herself against him.
It was then she noticed the expression on the visible part of his face, it was one of amusement. She felt embarrasment starting to fill her body as she buries her face in the crook of his neck, which made him chuckle lowly at her.
Kakashi wraps his arms around her and holds her tightly, he knew how scared she got of thunder, but still found it to be adorable.
He gently strokes her back as he starts whispering comforting things to her,
"It'll be okay, it can't hurt you. I promise."
Keira raises her head and he can't help but smile under his mask at her tear stained face.
She lets out a quiet hiccup and looks at him with fear in her light gray eyes, it was something he's never wanted to see again.
He brought one of his hands up to brush a tear off her cheek with his thumb. She pressed her face against his hand, it was something that brought her comfort to know he'd always be there for her.
She rests her forehead against his, flinching slightly at the noise outside. It was then she spoke, but her voice was quiet so he barely heard her say, "I'm sorry."
He shakes his head slightly and replies, "It's okay. I should say sorry to you for not being here sooner."
Keira looks away from his loving gaze, "I don't deserve you, you know that right?"
He pulls away from her and reaches to tuck some of her soft white hair behind her ear, "Don't be stupid. I'm the lucky one to have you."
His words brought a small smile to her lips, "My life would be dull and boring without you."
Kakashi pulls her back against his chest fully, she only buries her face against him.
He comforting strokes her back again, it always seemed to calm her down.
Keira only nuzzles more into him as she drowns out the thunder with thoughts of Kakashi and how he was holding her in his loving arms.
As longs as she had him by her side she felt invincible, well, for the most part anyway. But she did know he would love her until the day they both died. And even then their love for each other couldn't be compared to anything else.
Keira soon found herself falling asleep in Kakashis' loving embrace. She smiles as her eyes slide shut.
Everything would be okay.
