"Do you hate me?"

Mr. Feeny looked up as Cory asked that question.

"Hate you? No! I love you.

"You have been my neighbor since you were born. You've grown to be practically like a son to me. Why would you think I hate you?"

"It's just that you know I've been going through a tough time and yet you've been riding me like a 300 pound man would ride a pony," Cory said.

"I'll try not to be insulted by the 300 pound man comment," Mr. Feeny said, "and you're right I have been hard on you lately."

"Why," Cory said, "You know my girlfriend died in a car accident and I miss her like crazy. You know I've been having trouble with bullies and that Shawn has been mad at me. You know my parents have been fighting more then usual and you know I have a UTI. Why are you being so hard on me?"

"Sit down Mr. Matthews and I'll be more then happy to answer your question."

Cory sat down.

"It's because I see you falling apart and I'll be damned if I'm going to let you fall apart. I will grant you that my way of handling it wasn't the best choice, but it was the only solution I could think of. I needed some time to speak with you. I want to help get you through your problems.

"Now, unfortunately unless you are the miracle man there's nothing you can do about Topanga. I mean, you can't bring her back. That doesn't mean that you can't honor her though and when the time is right you'll see her again. In regards to the bullies I can guarantee that they won't continue to bother you. As for Shawn, there's a simple way to fix that problem."

"There is," Cory asked.

"Yes. You can fix it in two words. I'm sorry"

"You think he'll forgive me?"

"I know he'll forgive you," Mr. Feeny said, "Have you been to a doctor about your UTI?"

"Yeah. The doctor gave me some medication to clear it up. What about my parents fighting?"

"They have been fighting about certain situations which have been resolved," Mr. Feeny said, "so you don't need to worry about that anymore."

"Thank you Mr. Feeny," Cory said, "You've really been helpful"

"Any time Cory," Mr. Feeny said, "I'll give you a ride home"

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely. It's not like it's out of my way," Mr. Feeny said with a laugh"
