I've Never Stopped Loving You
Elena walked into the hospital room; she looked at the heart machine. It was true, Katherine Pierce was dead. Elena looked over at Stefan sitting next to Katherine, his hand holding her hand. Stefan had a pained look on his face.
"Stefan?" Elena said, quietly.
"Elena?" Stefan said looking up, surprised.
"She's gone. I know I shouldn't care after everything she's done, but I feel guilty. Elena, she told me she loved me, and that she wanted me to look at her the way I look at you. Maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh to her." Stefan said, looking down.
Elena walked over to Stefan putting her hand on his cheek, her brown eyes staring into his green. "Stefan, don't blame your-self. You cared about her, and you were there for her to the very end. Katherine knew it would take you awhile to forgive her." Elena said.
Stefan nodded, smiling slightly.
"So what are you doing here?" Stefan asked.
"I needed to know if you were okay." Elena said.
"Well, thanks. But, I'm fine." Stefan said walking away.
"Stefan, wait." Elena said running behind him.
"Damon and I broke-up." Elena said.
"Oh." Stefan said, looking at the floor.
"You know, it's weird. I thought I loved him, maybe I did. I mean I do love him, but I'm not in love with him. I just didn't think I deserved you, and I don't. You deserve better Stefan, and I know it'll take a long time for you to forgive me. I know you probably aren't in love with me anymore. But Stefan, just know. I love you, I always have, and I always will… I'm sorry I-" Elena said walking away, tears now pouring out of her eyes.
"Elena." Stefan said grabbing her by the arm, turning her towards him.
"You're right, you hurt me. I wanted to move on from you. But Elena, I can't. I love you Elena, I love you so much. You're the love of my life. I know now that no matter what I do, I will never stop loving you. I can never love any woman the way I love you." Stefan said, wiping her tears away and then leaving a gentle peck on her lips.
Stefan then wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to his chest, putting his chin over her head. "I know we have allot to talk about, and we can't just jump right into things, because Elena, allot has changed since we've last been together. But we'll work it out together…" He said, comforting her.
"Stefan?" Elena said quietly.
"Yes?" He said, stroking her hair.
"I know you slept with Katherine, Caroline told me." Elena said, looking back into his eyes again.
"About that.. It was nothing. I was tired, it was a long day. We got caught up in the moment... It didn't mean anything Elena. I'll never love her the way I love you, you know that." Stefan said kissing her forehead.
Elena smiled, but suddenly her eyes widened.
Elena collapsed to the ground, turning gray. Stefan widened his eyes shaking her frantically.
"Elena!" Stefan yelled. "No! No! Please don't die on me, Elena, please..!" Stefan said crying.
Suddenly he heard movement in the room, Katherine then opened her eyes, sitting up on the bed.
"It worked, I'm a vampire again." Katherine said smirking, getting off the bed.
All of a sudden, Elena opened her eyes, gasping for breath. Suddenly a heart-beat could be heard. Stefan's eyes widened.
"Am I..?" Elena said, shocked, looking at Stefan.
"Elena… You're human again."
