She knew it would eventually happen, floor by floor, she knew it would.
The stairs were what she knew, the floors each landed on were but doorways to lives that were now spent.
The signs on the door meant little now, but she always wanted to be sure, checking to make sure she wasnt alone.
It always made her wonder, the feeling she would get, when she looked out and wept, of the voices that might be on the other side.
It always made her wonder. It was her mind that made her go, for her body gave up long ago, the damn floors echoed with life.
If there was a rustle in the building, she thought it was the life returning to it, but it was never so. Just the dead wanting her heart throbbing soul.
her head throbbed with the fuckin echoes, the wind blew, her path she somehow knew would lie on that whispering wind, at the top most floor.
Each floor brought about more of them, those life taking, and life giving demons.
Their blood flowing down the stairway. Each step closer to her, making her lose her nerve to carry on the flight as they came closer.
She looks now, at the former sinners, at the children, at the monsters. Everything that would scare her in her in bed at night, was looking back.
The top Floor, she now has nothing to fear, time to shine like the stars, and fade away.
Her last thought, were the eyes she saw, her lovers eyes. The eyes at the top of the stairs.
She prayed for the green valley's she grew up in, the place where she would finally come home.
She prayed for forgiveness, of the days that made her grow up much older, of the things that made her colder.
And the dreams she had of his wonderful face. She thought about him all the time. All alone without him. Only in her dreams.
For this night, with the dead around her, it was always just her dreams. It got better as she came closer to the edge. Her dreams about him closer.
Her dreams about her and him that could only be a dream. But the fall wouldnt take away her love, he was on her lonely mind, she dreamed about him all the time.
And on this fateful night, when it was only her dreams, she took the final leap that would take her from this nightmare, and release her to from this nightmare.
Breath, climb, cling hard, to the memories, to the recuse it would bring. To the life left behind her death would be a release to her soul.
Not much left behind, just the body, on the ground below, it would never belong to them now.
Her life cast off, peace she would see.Her body to freeze in the cold December snow.
