After a certain point the logical thing was to stop running and just laugh. It took him a few few seconds to realize she was no longer clipping at his heels. He turns to see her through the haze of falling water. Her smile? He hadn't seen one like that from her in a long time. He smiles himself jogging to join her.
"May I ask what we're doing?"
"Enjoying the rain. It's not like we can't get anymore wet Marcus. Pretty sure if we're not careful at the pace we're going one of us is gonna trip and break something."
"The humvee shouldn't be much further.' She just shakes her head and sits down on the the ground which was now a mud pile. 'Or we can stay here…"
"Think of all the years on the Ark without rain. I can't make up from all of those days but it's a start." He sighs looks towards the direction in which they had been running when the storm had begun; he knew sanctuary was only a few hundred yards away. Looks back towards her as she cakes and pats some of the mud in her hands. He had heard stories of children doing this years ago. Why anyone would enjoy the rain, want to play with mud he won't under….
"Hey!" He shrieks as the mud goes from her hands onto his chest. He watches in mock horror as she gathers up more with a playful glint of evilness. She stands up the look growing. Marcus does the only thing he can think of and that's to run out of her range, crouches down and arm himself with his own collection of mud.
"Oh Abby!" He calls out his arm ready for the first launch. Her uncharacteristic giggles melting him.
