I knew this had been my destiny since I was born. I was told when I was young that I had been born into a different life than all my other friends. In my own opinion, I was quite abnormal. And I hated it. My family tried to reassure me that it was going to be all right, that I'd fit in. I never knew what they meant.
However, when I was six years old I was taken into an apprentice school, and I did fit in. The school was very different, just as I expected. It was a school for pirate apprentices. Weird, right? I was born into this destiny. I had to devote my life to ships, treasure and drinking rum in random pubs with revealing woman on the loose. It wasn't my cup of tea, and I wasn't excited to get going with the job, but unfortunately I didn't have a choice.
Chapter One
"Right. Today is a very special day for all of you. As all of you find out who your master will be. That's right. From now on, you are all ready. You do not need to be in this school any longer." WHAT? READY? Is she crazy? I'm only seventeen... how am I supposed to deal with being a real pirate? These questions roamed through my head that entire day.
"You will be told who your master is... and he will teach you everything you need to know. If they like you enough, they will keep you as one of their crew. I wish you the best of luck, students."
This is insane. I don't feel ready for this. I don't think I can cope with being out there. But... I suppose I don't have a choice. These words run through my mind. I listened carefully, hoping I knew who my master was.
"Lauren?" Miss asked. I gulped as I raised my hand up slowly. "Ah, there you are." She looked at her paper and smiled. "Captain Jack Sparrow. You'll love him." I'd never heard of him. Uh oh.
When class was over, she took me to the side of the classroom. I gulped and reluctantly let her take me.
"I saw you were just abit nervous... you have nothing to be afraid of. I can asure you, Jack is a real pleasure."
We left it at that, and I walked outside, following the herd of students, or now apprentices, that were all so excited to meet their masters. I didn't feel ready for this, but it was something that had to be done.
Outside, I saw many men and woman, standing in front of many different ships. I thought "Oh wow." as I saw all of them dressed in their dirty clothes. I walked through the crowd of people hugging and shaking hands, until I saw that all the men had been taken. My captain didn't arrive. I frowned. I didn't want to do this, but I still felt ashamed that I had been forgotton. I turned around then, to tell my teacher, but I was oh so confused when I saw everyone was facing me, with their mouths wide open. I blinked and asked, "What?" but I got no answer. I only saw one man point to th distance behind me. I turned around... oh my days.
There was a man in a small sailing boat, much smaller than the rest, and I swear it couldn't be classified as a ship.
"AHOY! I'll be right there! I just need to get the water outta my boat. I mean, ship!" He grabbd a bucket and started scooping up eater from inside his boat and threw it outside, back into the sea.
"It's a good way to burn calories ! You should try it, especially one or two of you..." I had to giggle at that comment, and so did everybody else apparentley.
