"Why? Who else do you intend on joining us, Godric?" Rowena perked up, lifting her eyes up from the blueprint. Her eyes, dark as they were, stabbed him.
Helga turned around in her seat and placed her quill on the table. "What is this? There is someone else coming?"
Salazar straightened himself up from his current slump, arms crossed. "Yes. There is someone else coming. Gwendolyn is coming. You both remember Gwendolyn, don't you? Godric's sister?"
Rowena and Helga exchanged glances.
Salazar continued, "Yes. Let's see – impudent, impulsive, irresponsible, and terribly irritating."
Helga opened her mouth as if to call Salazar out on his shameless remarks but Rowena was the first to speak. "You wish to bring Gwendolyn? May I ask why?" Rowena's tone was ever-so-softly cut.
"She seemed kind enough when we briefly exchanged welcomes," Helga chimed in, gazing off as if reminiscing.
Salazar scoffed – as did Rowena.
"Thank you, Helga," Godric paused, "for that. I appreciate it. But yes. Whether any of you approve or not – she arrives on the morrow. All this planning and conjuring is tiresome. We need to ask others for assistance because we simply cannot manage everything on our own. It's impossible."
"And you think your sister a worthy candidate of assistance?" Rowena leaned back against her chair, perching her arms upon the armrests.
"Yes," Godric said firmly, "she's helped us before."
"Oh, and that turned out strikingly," Salazar slid out of the door frame and into the room, "I don't think you've thought this through enough, Godric. Honest."
"You know, Salazar, despite how much enjoyment you take of criticizing Godric—and we are all very well aware of your consistent concern—sometimes, they are not needed. Honest." Helga cocked her eyebrows up at Salazar and turned to face Godric. "If you think it wise, Godric, to bring Gwendolyn, then I shall support you on this. Everybody deserves a fair chance, after all."
"She's already had one," snarled Salazar.
"Fine then. A second one," Helga shot back.
Godric grinned, "I knew I'd be able to get your word, Helga."
"Pleasure," Helga bowed her head in a manner akin to Rowena's.
Even Rowena had to smile, despite it barely reaching her eyes. "Perhaps it will prove advantageous to allow Gwendolyn to join us. I suppose the only thing we can do is wait and see. What say you, Salazar?"
"As usual, I have no say in the matter, therefore, I'll wait. And I'll see. Begrudgingly." Salazar sat down and attended to the blueprint once again, casting his eyes down from the rest of the group in his usual brooding persona.
"And who else have you invited?" Rowena asked.
Godric thought for a moment and then said, "Well you know… Peverell, Yaxley, the Black brothers, MacDougal, Weasleys, Gael, and the Veralls. Oh, and then there was also…"
