Hopelessdream2005's Story Competition .

AN : Okay so it's 3:35 am and this idea just popped into my head . This is for a competition I have entered by hopelessdream2005. You guys should check her out , her stories are awesome .

Anyway , in this story Damon has to admit to Bonnie that he loves her . So I thought , what if Damon had been to late to stop that branch from staking Bonnie ? What if he couldn't save her ? What would he say to her telepathically ? Might do the next chapters from Stefan and Elena's POV's but for now just Damon's . Here we go .

Damon dove towards Bonnie, not thinking about the spear-like branch that was hurtling towards her in what seemed to be slow motion. Bonnie hadn't seen it yet, but as she realized what was going to happen, she looked at Damon, showed him with her eyes that she was not afraid, and sent a blast of power at him, causing him to be flung backwards, away from her and out of the circle. All he could do was watch as his little redbird was pinned to the ground by the jet black stake. All he could do was listen as she screamed and then fell silent. All he could do was run to her side and hold her hand as her eyes fluttered, not really focusing on his face.

'Damon?' Bonnie's inner voice whispered to him.

'I'm here Redbird, I'm here.'

'I'm going to die aren't I?'

'No. I won't let you. You will not die. All you have to do is just swallow my blood, it's in your mouth Bonnie, just swallow.'

'I..I..I can't Damon, I have no control over my body. I feel like I'm floating.'

By now small tears were making tracks down Damon's cheeks, but he wiped them away quickly, just as he had when he saved her from the torture that Shinichi was going to inflict on her. He couldn't let his brother see him cry, not over some weak little human. But it was too late, Stefan's hand was already on his shoulder, squeezing gently just as his mother had done to soothe him when she was alive.

'Ahh..Damon it hurts.' Her small voice broke into his thoughts.

'I know Bonnie, I know. But it won't hurt for long. Soon it will just feel numb.'

'And then I'll die. Don't try to tell me that I'll be fine. I know that this branch is spreading through me. I know that I'm going to die. So I want to say something. Thank you Damon, for saving me and helping me. I..I love you Damon. And I know that you love Elena but I always thought that maybe one day you might actually change your mind. Guess that was never going to happen. Oh well, now you know. Before I go you needed to know that. I love you Damon Salvatore.'

And her heart beat one more time, and stopped. 'I love you too Bonnie McCullough. Don't you ever forget that.' But she never heard him.

AN : So that was depressing, and short. I just hope you guys liked it. Might do some more chapters, but I don't know if that would flow so well. SO yeah . Review you guys .
