"We gotta run Maura, there's been a homicide."

"Oh and I was so looking forward to seeing the parade, did you know that the first Pride Parade was held here in 1960?"

"All that time and people still complain about it, ugh people."Maura looked down at her Jimmy Choo's, disheartened by the thought of it.

"It's gonna take a while to get to the car Jane, theres a lot of spectators everywhere."

"Ehm we won't need the car, its not far. Frost is going to meet us there."

On arriving at the scene, they see that Frost and the rest of the homicide team have already arrived and were examining the scene. Jane went to talk to Frost, while Maura went to examine the body. She was used to seeing dead bodies, it was her job, but what she saw infront of her made an impact.

"Between 20 and 25, male, caucasian. From his clothing, I think it would be safe to assume that he was taking part in the days events. He's been badly beaten, and signs indicate possible strangulation. We need to get him back to the lab for testing."

"We need to interview any one who may have witnessed this, Frost you start by canvassing the residents in that appartment block who have windows facing onto the alley here, I'll check with near by shop owners incase they may have seen anyone suspicious."

Back in the lab, Jane comes in to check on Maura. She's been working on the case for hours and everyone else had long clocked off. While she had established the cause of death, she had found no evidence to point her in the direction of a killer. He had been beaten up, and left there. She feared it may have been a hate crime, and on the day of the march, it made her stomach turn.

"Maura, you coming home anytime soon? It's late."

"I haven't found enough yet Jane, I have to keep working this case."

"What makes this any different?"

"I never suspect, guess or propose, but I think this may have been a hate crime. It looks like he was beaten and left there. What if it was because he was gay Jane?" She burst into tears.

"Then we will catch the bastard and put him away." Jane put her arm around Maura in a tight comforting hug.

"Is there somthing else, that youre not telling me?"

"Jane, I don't feel safe, after seeing this."

"Maura are you coming out to me?" They were close, and Maura knew she could tell Jane anything.

"Im bisexual Jane, I realised some time ago, I haven't told anyone, and things like that make me wonder if I can tell anyone, except for you... I've been meaning to tell you for a while but I wanted to be sure."

"Maura, I always we knew we were alike, but I didnt realise how much... I've been inlove with you for as long as I can remember."
