Author's Note: Well, this is yet another story I'm working on amongst the (four?) others I'm working on. Reason I started this one was because of my attaining the complete Kanon anime DVD, my fan-boyism of the Clannad anime and my strong desire to seek out the game "One". Like my Memories Off vs. Clannad story, it is in Misc Anime due to heavy use of events from the animes (OVAs in One's case) and little of the game events. This is a small opening/prologue chapter, the main one will arrive soon. Enjoy.

Opening Act
It happened.
No-one was able to prevent it from happening.
It tied their lives together before they realised the significance of the event.
Yuuichi and Ayu laid there in the middle of the road, motionless, blood leaking out of them like water would run from a tap. The car that had hit the two had smashed into a wall nearby when the driver lost control at the wheel. Nagisa and Mizuki left their best friends sides to try and help out however they possibly could to tend to the fallen two. Tomoya ran after Nagisa and stopped her from reaching the scene, while Kohei stood in horror like the rest of the on-lookers were doing. Kyou, who usually gave off a strong, positive (yet aggressive) demeanour, fell to her knees, wide-eyed and in utter shock. 'It's a joke…right…?' She asked slowly, hoping that she was in a dream and what had just happened wasn't real. But she got no answer, and with each passing second, she game to realise more and more that it was in fact real.
Yuuichi and Ayu had just been killed in a car accident. No matter what Mizuki tried to do, the two could not be saved or brought back. That bitter truth hurt the surrounding people to their core, and began a long, painful path for them to walk down…
