You Know Everything Ends (But What's Life Without A Risk?)

"Hey!" An unfamiliar voice called from behind Castiel as he walked down the hall of the school. He didn't turn, he doubted anyone would be calling after him, he was just the nerdy, unpopular kid who wore too big glasses and only had a couple of friends, Jo and Ruby who were both girls.

"Hey, Castiel! Wait!" The voice rang out again.

Castiel turned, hearing his name, to see Dean Winchester (one of the 'popular' kids and Castiel's crush) chasing after him. He wondered what Dean was doing chasing after him and tried not to get his hopes up. He waited for Dean to catch up before speaking, "What do you want?"

"Woah there," Dean threw his hands up in mock surrender, "No need to get snappy, I just wanted to ask if you'd take a walk with me."

"What? Now?" Castiel asked, caught off guard by Dean's offer.

"Yeah, just through the park, I need to talk to you about something."

Castiel just nodded, too shocked to form another sentence for fear of stuttering or saying something wrong. They walked through the crowded halls out to the front of the high school and over to the entrance to the park next door. Castiel and Dean stayed with a distance between themselves, walking in silence until Dean spoke.

"Do you know who I like?"

Castiel nearly tripped over his own feet before regaining his composition. "I… uh… No. I don't."

Dean paused, "Oh, well I like Jo. But the thing is, I'll never understand girls and I figure since you hang out with chicks you'd be able to help me out a bit."

"Oh." Castiel whispered, "What do you want help with?"

"I've been asking her out for a while now, but everytime she says she's busy or just says no. How am I supposed to get her to like me?"

Jo. The thought of Dean Winchester dating one of his best friends made his stomach flip but he cleared his mind, this was his one chance to talk Dean and he was not going to mess it up. "Maybe you should ease up a little, she talks about you sometimes but she thinks you're kinda overdoing it." Castiel realized how harsh that sounded and immediately backtracked, "I mean. you're really dedicated and, uh, that can be a good thing but maybe you should give her a little time to think it through."

Dean chuckled at Castiel's honest answer, "Maybe you're right. I've asked so many people and they just say it's her problem but I don't think any of them were actually being honest."

"Honesty can be one of my flaws." Castiel muttered.

"Naw, I think it's good, I like someone who's honest and not afraid to tell the truth even if it's an ugly truth."

"Well, maybe we'd make a good pair… of friends I mean. You like people who are honest and I have a problem with being too honest."

"Maybe so. Anyway, thanks buddy, you've been a lot of help. I should probably get going, I've got a girl to chase after all."

Castiel nodded, "Yeah, my father will be wondering where I am."

"Okay. Bye then, Cas." Dean said with a smile as he turned away to leave.

Castiel stood, slightly shocked. Had Dean Winchester just given him a nickname? He shook his head to clear his mind and continued walking, still thinking about Dean.

((A/N: This is the start to my new story and I think I know where this one's going (unless it decides to run away again) but it's going to take a while to write since I'm so busy. Thanks guys! P.S. This is based on a true story))
