I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

She was crying. Even though it was an oven in here, I could still feel the moisture of them soak into my uniform. She was clinging on to me so desperately, like I was her life line, and I was. She looked up from where her head was buried in my chest and said, "Please don't leave me." I don't know why she said it was obvious I wasn't, but I answered anyway, "Wouldn't dream of it."

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

"Just close your eyes, and when it's over I'll tell you to open them," I spoke to her confidently. I could see the setting sun from the window I was about to jump out of to escape this burning building. "I promise I'll get you there safe and sound, okay?" She nodded and wrapped her arms around my neck.

Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

I looked back out the window and spotted the flames billowing from the nearby windows. I could hear the symphony of sirens coming in from the window. I looked down to see how far up we were. I inhaled deeply, if I messed the trajectory up on my grappling gun- NO, I couldn't think like that. Not when someone else's life is at stake. Plus, I'm Robin I can do anything.

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

It was getting hotter. I had to get out of there. "Okay, are you ready?" I said. She nodded again, and I wrapped my arm around her waist. I looked at the next building over and aimed my grappling gun at the ledge, I steadied my arm and shot. I looked back down at her and said, "All you need to do is close your eyes and hold on tight, and you'll be alright." She buried her face in the crock of my neck. I looked at the sunset, took a deep breath, and jumped.

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...
