Fang's Pov.

The flock, Max, and I are flying to the next safe house when I start thinking of a song I had heard when we were taking a break from flying. It had made me think of Max.

When your tears are spent on your last pretense

And your tired eyes refuse to close and sleep in your defense

Max never gets as much sleep as she should because she is always worrying about the flock and is trying to protect us.

When it's in your spine like you've walked for miles

And the only thing you want is just to be still for a while

She hates being on the run. She wishes everyone could get a break and honestly relax.

I would protect Max from anything that is threatening to her and I will be her crutch if she needs one.

She works so hard even when she really needs a moment to just breathe and not worry about erasers.

When the space between the things you know is blurry nonetheless

I can read and understand her even when she isn't saying anything by the emotion in her eyes and they seem to speak what she is thinking.

And the words you want are out of reach but they've never been so loud

She is so tough she will not let anyone or anything break her.

I look over at Max and see how amazing she is and how she could have anybody but she chooses me. I don't understand why but one think I can tell you is I love Max. It's mushy I know but its true.

Still looking at her she feels my gaze and looks at me and gives me a small smile. She seems somewhat relaxed but you can also see she is tired.

I slowly swoop down close to her then wait till our wings strokes are in sink then I put my mouth to her eye and say "I love you." She smiles and looks into my eyes with a loving look in her eyes.

Then she puts a hand on my cheek which leaves a sweet tingly sensation and puts her lips at least a centimeter and replies "I love you too." I then press her lips to mine and fly
