Disclaimer: Oh my gawd, I can't
believe I'm writing a disclaimer, what is this world coming to? OK, down
to business, I'm not KA Applegate (You can't tell?) I don't want to be
her (considering the state my precious series is in) and I probably never
will (No, duh). And if you even contemplate taking me to court I
will slam your two faced attorney butt
all the way to a jail cell in Antigua. Remember, people, happy thoughts!
Cold. It was so cold, I felt like if someone
were to touch my arm it would shatter into pieces.
And hunger, I was so hungry I felt like...
I felt like I could eat anything... or anyone...
Yeah, sure, we hunted in our morphs, I'd
become a Grizzly Bear and go hunt fish in a stream, or morph my eagle morph
and get more fish. Sometimes we'd morph wolf and go hunt rabbits or something.
But hunting and eating isn't my
idea of fun.
"Where do you think we are, now?" I asked
Marco as we trotted through forest - that was slowly becoming a jungle
as we walked on -.
He looked at his watch, "We've been going
south... so we should be in somewhere in South America."
"The Amazon?" I suggested,
He rolled his eyes, "Right,"
"What do you mean 'right.'?" I demanded,
sometimes Marco can get on my nerves.
"Just right."
I mumbled something. Something caught
my eye in the sky.
A bird. The silhouette of a raptor.
"Look up!" I yelled,
"What?"
"Just look up!"
"Wow, a bird," he said sarcastically.
"It's Tobias!" I interrupted, "We've found
him!"
I closed my eyes and imagined my eagle
morph.
I could feel the feather patterns abruptly
turning into real live feathers.
Marco just stood there, gawking at me.
"Don't just stand there moerphhhhhphhh!"
I yelled, but my toungue shrunk rapidly.
Morph!> I yelled,
"Yeah, I kind of got that, but what if
that isn't Tobias?"
I didn't hear him. I took off into the
air, pulling my self up.
Tobias!> I yelled,
Nothing.
Tobias?>
I spilled air from my wings. What was
the point of even hoping it had been Tobias? Birds are everywhere. What's
so special-
Rachel?>
My eagle head jerked up, I angled my wings,
upped my tail feathers and spun around magically.
A bird was flapping it's wings, relentlessly,
trying to hover.
Tobias?> I said,
Yes, it's me, what are you doing here?>
he asked, Where are the rest, the Yeerks didn't get you?>
What are you doing here? Are
you alright? Where have you been?>
We pounded each other with questions.
Marco's down there,> I said,
Marco?> Tobias said, Well, we
weren't the best of buds were we?>
No you weren't...> I said, But
don't you want to see him?>
Nah, not really,> he said, Don't
you want to see the people I've been living with?>
I think I'd better tell Marco>
Naw! He'll figure it out, besides
Marco was born to take care of himself,>
We flew down to the ground. I had no idea
of what I was getting myself into.
