My Last Breath
Salem lay on the cold floor of her's and Sirius' room, her breathing shallow and labored. Every part of her body ached from the attack, but she didn't want to let go. At least, not yet. It wasn't her time. She was supposed to get married and start a family. Live many years before this kind of thing.
When Sirius found her, she suddenly felt safe. Her eyes fluttered open and she felt her heart break at the devastated look on her fiancee's face. He petted her hair while tears began to roll down his face.
"Hold on to me, love." She thought sadly. "For you know I can't stay long." At this, her thoughts turned bitter. "All I wanted to say is I love you." The God's honest truth. "And I'm not afraid." And her only lie. "You can't hear me, but can feel me in your arms. Holding my last breath. With all my thoughts of you." As these words entered her head, Salem wanted to reach up and wipe the salty droplets from Sirius' solemn face.
She closed her eyes again and saw pictures from her life. "I'll miss the winter." She thought as a scene of the couple playing and eventually kissing in the snow played in her head.
The next scene was of her holding her godson. "A world of fragile things."
The last scene to play in her head was of the wedding she would never have. She saw Lily and James sharing a look as Sirius watched her walk down the aisle, a huge smile on his face.
She opened her eyes one last time to see Sirius with his closed.
"Closing your eyes to disappear. You'll pray your dreams will leave you here. Then you'll wake and know the truth. No one's here." Salem sighed in her head.
"Say goodnight. Don't be afraid." She wanted to tell him soothingly.
She heard him call her name, but then released her final breath and everything faded to black.
Sweet raptured light. It ends here tonight.
The End
