From The Beginning to The End

Blood – C Reimagined

Author's Note:
I've been toying with this idea for ages 'cos I can't get no satisfaction from the anime and the movie. I would have put this up earlier but there have been a lot of issues that kept me from it. To pass the time, I did my research about Japanese vampire lore and wrote drafts. For those of you who have read and patronized A Beautiful, Dangerous Love – I'm sorry but I won't be updating that story any longer because I'd like to focus on this. And honestly, I'm really surprised with the support that got! I was just messing around with the idea of them having a baby… My many thanks to all of you! I just hope you guys find this interesting as well. Cheers! – Victoria Chrystallis

Prologue

Fumito here. You know who I am? The man who bought off an island, populated it with forgettable beings, just to stage an experiment; the one who dared to make a bet with damphyr? The one with blond hair and green eyes, and the obsession towards her…? The Icarus of human experimentation – yes, that's me.

I was nearly immortal. But I let my one weakness kill me. Well, take away my feeble mortal body, anyway. My spirit simply wanders among the living for I have mutilated my soul too much to be permitted entry into neither heaven nor hell. I spend my time accompanying my darling Saya in her lonesome journey. Sometimes I steal bodies just to see how strong the promise still holds her. It pains me immensely to see my beautiful girl a moving empty shell. But I lost our bet, didn't I? Someday, I might find the perfect new home for my soul. Until then, I'll be the cool wind that never leaves Saya.

Ah but I'm getting bored.

Why don't I just tell you how this whole Elder Bairn business came about?

You already know that these creatures are mindless, man-eating monsters. That these creatures used to roam freely on Earth and eat men like they were wild berries off a bush until a covenant was made.

That's hardly enough to keep you happy, is it?

I know what you want and I'm dying (haha) to give it to you.

Have you ever wondered where does Saya fit in this whole story? Have you ever wondered how old she truly is?

I know you're itching to find out who she made the promise to and why.

Ah but to tell you the whole story, I must make leaps in time. I have to begin some centuries before the farce, actually. And I have to let you slip into the consciousness and emotions other beings who could offer you a better glimpse of the story. We'll be moving out of the lyrical confines of first-person, and into the wild world of multiple points of view.

Now, be assured: though I am leaving you once again, I will come back when the time is ripe.
