Cold Fire
As I look into your eyes
I can see the cold fire burning
Flashing, writhing, rising higher
As your wrath descends upon me.
Like a wave,
Washing in and out on the shore
It descends on me, only to be retrieved again.
But the look of disappointment is worse than any yell.
Your piercing stare feels like an X-ray
Scouring my mind and thoughts
Reading my mind
Discovering what really happened.
I cower in front of you
Hoping for the best
Your mouth frowns
But your eyes twinkle.
