Chapter 1:
Life was full of rotten luck, his was no exception. It had been a year since the park closed. A lot had changed in a year. He found out that he didn't qualify for any actual jobs that didn't require him manhandling something that would eat him if it had the change. His relationship with Claire ended with no hopes of getting back together. Now he just spent his time in bars, drinking from the money he got from gambling and bits he had saved up from the park.
The fate of Jurassic World was still in the balance. A large majority of the population wanted the island bombed, killing off any remaining dinosaurs. Then there was Peeta and Peeta supporters who simply wanted the island to be left alone. What did Owen Grady want? He wasn't entirely too sure. What he did know was that he didn't want the island destroyed, not with Blue still on there. He also didn't want some dumb ass coming in and trying to reopen the park.
"Are you Owen Grady?" came a voice from behind him.
He turned on his bar stool to be greeted by a short woman with long brown hair. Her curvy body was exposed in her curve hugging dress. The pair of red heels added on to her short frame. "What's it to ya'?"
"I'm here to speak with you about your work with the Raptors at Jurassic World," she says.
They were all the same. Everyone wanted his take on what had gone wrong at the park. A park that had been doomed from the start. He took another drink of his beer. "You can read all about it in the papers."
She took a seat next to him. "I'm not looking for the story that's in the newspapers. I'm looking for what really happened. It's important."
An eyebrow raised at this. "Important? What could be so important about my story?"
The woman hands him a card. "My name is Kat Daily. I'm a lawyer working to have the island marked off as a sanctuary. Your story could make a difference in my fight to save it."
Owen puts the card down without looking at it. "Another Peeta lawyer." he scoffs.
Kat laughs. "I don't work for Peeta. I work for an independent party that wants to buy the island."
"Ah, the true reason comes out."
"Believe me when I say this investor wants nothing more than to have this island saved. If I didn't believe in his crusade then I wouldn't be working for him."
"And what is his crusade?"
"To give a voice to those who don't have voices. And what better voice to get than the voice of the Alpha of the Raptors." she stood up. "For the record, I did read you story in the newspapers. You have my card now, if you're interested in saving the surviving Raptors then give me a call. The fight will go on whether or not you're apart of it."
