"Oooo! It's snowing!" yelled an excited Sirius, his face pressed on the window. "Snowing! Snowing! It's SNOWING!" he proceeded to sing, conducting himself with his hands.

Remus sighed. It was on of those days. With Peter in detention and James… otherwise occupied, (he wasn't sure where he was but he was sure that he didn't want to know) it was his turn to entertain Sirius- which no doubt meant going out into the snow. Normally, he loved snow… but with Sirius around- let's just say, he didn't like snow at 100 miles an hour, or snow when it happened to be inside his clothes.

"Remus!" whined Sirius. Ah, right on time.

"Yes, Sirius?" he sighed again, grudgingly putting down his rather cracking book to deal with the whirlwind that was Sirius Black.

"Can we go out in the snow, please?"

He stared at Sirius, who was doing his patented puppy-dog eyes; eyes that Remus found hard to resist.

"Please?" he said again.

Remus hated himself- why did he always win me over with no effort? He seethed, now sufficiently rugged up and heading down to the grounds, led by a bouncing, singing Sirius. Well, he did really hate himself. He loved the delighted look Padfoot got when he said yes to his proposal- his smile, his eyes… his bear hugs.

Remus shook his head bemusedly. By now, they were in the entrance hall- indeed, Sirius was. He was still halfway down the stairs, wrapped up in his own thoughts. Padfoot was staring at him, grinning broadly. He had a glint in his eyes- all the potential of the snow.

"Oi, Mooney! What are you thinking about? You had this…" he frowned, as if concentrating on looking at his tongue through his lips, "all the way down here, except for when you laughed… quite creepy really." Sirius looked a little worried. "Oh. My. God." he gasped. "Are you planning to kill people? MOONY! DON'T DO IT!" He looked terrified, sobbing dramatically.

He growled. "Yes! You will be my first victim!" He laughed manically, running at Sirius, jumping the last few stairs. As soon as he'd started running, Sirius had shot off out the doors. Remus grinned and followed him at pace, out the doors and down the front steps.

Sirius was ready. A firmly packed snowball hit him in the face as soon as his boots met the snow-laden lawn.

"Oof!" he hurriedly wiped his sleeve over his face. Sirius was standing 100 metres away, grinning. "Why… you!" Remus garbled, lurching forward to catch him. He tackled Sirius, pulling him to the ground. Sirius rolled over, Remus straddling him.

"Prepare to die!"

"Noooo!" yelled Sirius, mock thrashing about.

"Mm." said Remus, feigning (probably for the first time in his life!) deep thought. "And what would you do for me if I didn't?"

Sirius looked a little stumped. "… Give you a hug?"

"That could be acceptable." said Remus, falling silent to stare at the boy beneath him.

Sirius smiled up at him, then quickly darted up, planting a kiss on Remus' lips before lying back, retaking his place in the snow.

"Ah… that'd work." whispered Remus, a little stunned.

Sirius lifted him easily, sitting up. They were now face to face (and crotch to crotch, noted Remus).

"Ahh…" was all Remus could muster.

Sirius captured his lips again in a short, innocent kiss.

"You know what?" he asked, his voice perfectly calm. "I love the snow."

Remus smiled. "Yeah," he said, "I think I love the snow too."

They sat there, gazing at each other, slowly being blanketed in the falling snow, all thoughts of the snowball fight forgotten.
