Valkyrie Cain sat at her desk, staring determinedly at the math book in front of her. if her reflection could do it, so could she.
she sighed, leaned forward and opened the book. Just as she started to read the first question, she heard someone tapping at her window.
she walked across her room, pulled up the window and snapped, leave me alone skulduggery, i'm not in the mood.
Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed, he replied, a touch of amusement in his voice.
I swear to god, skulduggery, if you don't leave now i'm going to shove you out the window.
And are- he never got to finish , because Valkyrie shoved him.
she knew he wouldn't get hurt, but she hoped that it would be enough to make him go home, like she said, tonight she just wasn't in the mood.
but as he slid out the window, something unexpected happened. The window sill came down on his head, knocking him out.
he tumbled head over heels and hit the ground with a sickening thud.
Skulduggery! Valkyrie cried, not caring if her parents heard her or not.
She jumped out after him, displacing the air so she touched down gently, and kneeled next to him.
He's not breathing! she thought, oh my god he's not breathing!
she started to panic, until she remembered that skellitons don't breath.
she couldn't be sure, because it was pitch black out, but he probably broke a couple bones, maybe his ribs.
He groaned Skulduggery? she whispered, are you okay?
I just fell out of your two-story window, and you ask if i'm okay? he whispered back.
I'll call fletcher, she said and reached for her phone.
dammit, it's in my room. she helped skulduggery up, and leaned him against the side of the house, one arm curled protectivly around his ribs.
She used the air to boost herself up, and climbed in her open window.
She touched the mirror, told the reflection to resume her life, grabbed her black necromancy ring and jumped back out the window.
