(A/N: Hey everyone. Sorry for the long wait. I just started school last week, so I'm still trying to get used to homework and stuff again. Thanks for your patience/the "GAHHH WHY HASN'T SHE UPDATED YET????" that you so kindly kept to yourself. [That was actually not sarcastic, believe it or not.] I wrote this a while ago, and I found it today, and I was like "Wow, this is surprisingly good. Even though it's a little confusing. Oh well, I'm going to post it anyways." So…here's the story. Enjoy!)

Conversations

They are lying on their backs in the forest, looking up at the trees with barely any leaves left on them.

Jacob speaks first, although it's more like thinking out loud. "You know, Leah, I'm not sure I ever loved you. I think I just felt sorry for you."

Most girls would have been hurt by that, but not Leah. She replies with "Yeah, well, I don't need you feeling sorry for me. If you don't really love me, leave."

It's comments like these that make Jacob unsure whether he really loves Leah. She's so strong, and he admires that. But she doesn't need him, so why should he stick around?

Because he wants to.

"You know, Jacob," Leah says, pulling him out of his thoughts. "I'm not sure why I let you be my boyfriend when you just pine over Bella all the time."

Jacob looks at Leah, then back at the trees.

He just shrugs, but he knows the answer. It's because of conversations like these, where they pretend to hate each other.

It's their way of saying "I love you."

(A/N: Reviews are love!)
