NOTE:
Character death warning. This is the last fic in the 'Jukebox Saga'. I'll write more, but not in this storyline.
"Happy Birthday." Fin whispered as they woke up in the morning. John turned to him.
"How old am I again?" He asked teasingly.
"Seventy." Fin shook his head. "Amazing."
John smiled. "And yet you still love me."
Fin kissed his hand, his tongue tracing over the wedding band. "I'll always love you, John."
John and Fin had now been partnered for seven years. John was retired from the NYPD, and Fin was back in Narcotics. Their daughter, Michelle, was now fifteen. She was at a friend's house for a sleepover weekend.
Lewis was still Michelle's boyfriend. Sadly, after three years of battling breast cancer, Sandy passed away. He still had Vicki, though.
John looked at his lover and sighed. He didn't tell him, but he felt as though things were about to end for them. He decided not to let him know. He wanted his last years to be happy ones.
John and Fin attended the ceremony as Michelle and Lewis graduated high school.
"Congratulations, sweetheart." John said, giving his daughter a hug.
"Thanks, Daddy John." She still called them that. She hugged Fin and told them that she was going out with Lewis to celebrate. They sent them on their way with a smile.
They went home. "It's amazing." John said. "It seems like just yesterday we were tucking her in at night with her teddy bear."
Fin took his hand. "She's all grown up."
A few years later, John was now seventy-eight. He was attending the wedding of Michelle to Lewis. They weren't sure if they could live alone, them both being blind, so they hired a caretaker to check on them in their new apartment.
John wiped his eyes. "Isn't she beautiful?"
Fin kissed him. "She is."
After the ceremony, John and Fin met Michelle and Lewis.
"Take good care of her, okay?" Fin asked.
"I will, you guys."
John hugged Michelle. "I love you, Michelle. Always remember that."
"I love you too, Daddy John." She hugged him.
Fin hugged her too. "Have a good time. I love you."
Fin drove John home and they went to bed. John took Fin's hand. "I love you, Oda." He smiled, tears in his eyes.
Fin kissed him. "I love you too, John."
John crawled into his arms and they fell asleep.
EPILOGUE
John and Fin were partnered for 15 years. Michelle is pregnant with her and Lewis' first child, a boy which they are naming John.
The day after their 15th wedding anniversary, John died peacefully in his sleep. A quiet funeral was held with their close friends by their side.
Fin approached the grave alone.
"You changed my life, John." He whispered. "I found a love in you that I never thought I could have. I found a family. And I know that I will love you, the rest of my life."
He took a red rose out of his pocket and put it over the fresh grave. "I love you."
As Fin walked away, the sun gleamed off of the headstone:
"John Munch-Tutuola –
Beloved Partner, Father, and Friend."
